What are some really effective pain killers? Better than Ibuprofen and paracetamol!?
Had an operation and the after pain is beyond agony!

They gave me a special pain killer but it doesn't work at all really!

Im on ibuprofen and paracetamol but again this type of pain is way too much for them to have any effect!

Im semi drunk now to further ease the pain and im all out of options!

Can anyone suggest anyway to stop this awful pain???

Co-Codamol is very good. I don't think you can get it straight off the shelf in Asda or Tesco's like some painkillers but you can usually ask for it behind the counter in Boots/Superdrug and alike.

Feel better soon!

Only on a prescription from a doctor ,, up to him if he prescribes anything , Morphine is the thing but its not for use at home ,, only in hospital ..

Co-codomol - ask your doctor for the higher strength ones. There are other types that he could prescribe you too, but you've got to tell him that what you are currently taking is not working.

Doc in house
Under medical supervision, you can be given morphine

Sleep! Take some benadril and you'll sleep for a while.

ask your doctor

Morphine works. But you'll have a bugger of a time getting a prescription for it out of most doctors.

try co-codamol you can get it over the counter at the pharmacy, it contains a small amount of codeine and these are the strongest along with Solpadeine that you can get over the counter. if the pain doesn't get any better go to your doctor and ask for some co-drydamol or co-proximal. these should help. it's not good for your liver to be drinking and taking paracetamol, both are bad for the liver, and when you drink you can forget when you last took the paracetamol and could end up taking too many. though i do understand why you are doing it, nobody should suffer pain like this so i would go back to your doctor. hope you feel better soon. by the way paracetamol, sopladeine, co-codamol, co-proximal, and co-drydamol should only be taken 1g every 4 hours.

You need to contact your doctor - the painkillers you are on should be enoughfor the pain and if they aren't working you should make your doctor aware so they can check you out and raise the level of your painkiller if necessary.

Codeine. Often comes combined with paracetamol. It's an over-the-counter drug here in Aus, I buy Mersyndol Day Strength. It's good and fairly cheap. If I have a big headache I wash it down with a glass of wine. Silly thing to do but it does help. Some codeine tablets will make you drowsy so you can just sleep through the pain. Side effects include possible addiction and constipation.
Keep a close eye on your bleeding with your consumption of alcohol post-op. It will thin your blood.
