How to stop cracking my neck?!?
Well, my friend showed me how to crack my neck a few weeks ago, and now i can't stop doing it. Every few seconds, without even thinking about it, I subconsciously turn my neck backwards to crack it. It's a really annoying habit, and makes my neck hurt. How can I stop myself from doing this? It's not a conscious effort; I do it when I'm not even fully aware...
I'm not sure how to stop but if you don't, and it continues like cracking your knuckles you will develop arthritis and that is very painful, my sister has to wear a brace every second day from cracking her neck, she suffers from acute arthritis. So good Luck to you!
Create a new habit that is health friendly like massaging your neck. Replace the bad habit with a good one.
Well, usually when you do an subconscious event after it starts to annoy the body it will stop itself. In your case you just started doing it, so you have to think about it when you do it. Your body will remind itself not to crack the neck and you'll be good. Most of the time I'd say your not going to fix this problem, but it's just a habit that's not needed.

honestly i started that habit a while back too and i cant stop either...i went to my doctor and he said sometimes a person has to crack their neck in order to relieve tension...but if your neck is hurting he also told me that it may because of a small pinching of one of the nerves in your neck...best thing to do is see your doctor and let them check it out=) good luck!!!!

I was told by my chiropractor NOT to turn my neck backwards and crack it. Did you hear about how women go to the hairdresser and get neck injuries or worse from the shampoo sink?
You have to put your neck in that backwards and many women have had neck injuries and sadly, have even died. Something about the blood/nerves that get blocked.
Just be careful. Side to side is okay. Maybe try to switch directions if you still need to crack your neck.
