My girlfriend had chicken pox years ago, now i have it, is she completely immune to the virus?
Ive been vaccinated for Chickenpox when i was over 6-8 years old. Im 18 now and apparently i was diagnosed with a light case of chickenpox.
My question is, my girlfriend contracted chickenpox when she was over 6 years old, is she completely immune to the virus now? im worried because she insists that she come over to take care of me, but ive read cases where you get chickenpox more than once.
any advice?
thank you

She can only get it once, let her bow to your every command

Steve C
Yes she has no worries of getting infected as her body had already built a immunity to the Virus . As you will once you clear up.

Saint Mike
yes, she is completely immune

Yes,but she might contracted the virus again though i'm sure the infection will be less virulent since she had it before.

Five Fingaz
No she wont get it again but if she gets the swine flu while you have chicken pox and you fool around, you may end up with a fat child that likes to hen peck

yes sir she is. once you have the chicken pox once you will never get it again. also i feel sorry for you that you have it. hope you feel better!

She should be completely immune to the chickenpox unless she had a very mild case of the virus as a child.

Yes. You virtually only get chickenpox once in your life (only VERY rarely do you contract it more than once). She became immune to the virus when her body overcame it. Now the white blood cells in her bloodstream have that strain in its 'memory' and will destroy any chickenpox pathogens before they have time to cause any harm to her health. She will be fine.

you can get it more than once, i've had it when i was younger and last year i got a case called shingles, which is a form of chickenpox.

she could get chicken pox, but not by just being around you. just don't touch, kiss, or share drinks.

Jesikah Riley
yeah unless she didnt get it badly

once youve had chicken pox u cnt get them again

It can come back as shingles which is the Varicella zoster virus (VZV) and is in the Herpes family. After an individual has chickenpox, this virus lives in the nervous system and can be reactivated, although this most commonly happen in people over 60 or those whose immune systems are weakened.

Army Hopeful
Once you get chickenpox, the virus stays in your body. She isn't immune, and the adult version of chickenpox is called shingles.

when you get the chicken pox your body is supposed to develope immunities but some people's bodies dont. she should be fine especially since the older you are, the higher the chances are that you will develop the immunities. its a little rare to get it more than once so she should be fine.

its rare to have it twice but possible. If shes in good health and doesn't catch things often then it should be okay, if on the other had she has a weak immune system then I'd say it's better she stays away because theirs a higher chance of her getting it again but the choice is yours and hers

no she is not immune.there are cases where people can have them more than one time.
