Yes, I have had a PICC line for 15 months, treating very late stage Lyme. It was slightly sore the first day or so, and it felt pretty weird to have another hole in your body- but I got over that quickly. Set yourself up a "clean table" for all your supplies and remember to keep everything clean. Main thing to remember: it doesn't hurt and it is worth the effort to get well.

I had one. For me, having it put in was stressful, but once it was in, I was fine. The advantage of a picc line over a regular IV is that a picc line can remain in place for a long period of time, but a regular IV must be replaced every 3 days. A picc line is very helpful if someone needs IV antibiotics for more than a few days. (I had my picc line in for 6 weeks, to get IV antibiotics for an infection.)

Picczees
Yes I have and they are great. Not painful to insert in the vein either.
I had cancer 5 years ago and developed a cover for it. They are great. Also a water resistant one

I don't think I have had a picc line. I think I had just a regular standard IV and it hurt like a *****, but I was three and hated everything. Here is a website that I found that I hope will be of help http://picclinenursing.com/picc_why.html

Not familiar with it but I found a link that is related to your question and hopefully make you feel at ease . Hopeyou feel better. Goodluck with everything.

hi. havent had one myself but my gf has had a picc line iv. she said she was nervous before and while they put it in but it was a surprisingly good experience. afterwards she said she worried for nothing :)

It wasnt that sore while put in, more of an unusual feeling than anything else. The arm was a bit stiff and a bit sore the next few days. After that is was not a problem.

really, it wasnt that bad, dont worry!

I have no idea what a picc line iv is but I have had 2 iv's in my life ( i am 12) , one when i was getting eyesurgery when i was like 4 and one when i had an appendectomy ( removal of the appendix) both times i just squeezed my dad's thumb really hard and i have to say that they didnt hurt at all. And the iv was in my arm both times . i hope this helps

I had one for 6 months, i just recently got it out. If you really feel anxious when they are going to insert it ask for an antianxiety. It is basically a very long iv catheter that runs from ur upper arm (most times) all the way to your heart. When they insert the iv they usually use an ultrasound machine to easily find a vein and make sure they are going the right way. It might be a little bit sore the next day but once a few days pass you'll forget all about it. I recommend buying a latex sleeve so you could be able to shower easily with it. Good luck.

A lot of good information here should help you.
Don't be nervous. They are relatively simple to put in and once in, you don't even notice or feel it.

I've never had one, but I've taken care of them. It's better than having a new IV put in all the time. If some of it comes out, don't pull it out any more! The dressing change is tricky too. But they are awesome if you have to be on IV meds for a long time.
