Can an ear infection be painless?
I've been having dizziness and vertigo for the past 3 weeks. And I was wondering if an ear infection be causing the dizziness? I've had an ear infection 5 years ago but don't remember having any ear pain. So my primary question is can ear infections be painless?

I have no idea. I punctured a eardrum when I was little. Ear infections were a very common ER visit for me. They were all painful. Every single one of them.

Yes it can. You also may have a different condition. See a Dr asap, as these can cause permanent hearing loss.

Most of the time, ear infections are painful, but not all the time. Also, problems other than an infection may be causing your symptoms. However, dizziness and vertigo are often caused by problems related to the ear. You need to see a doctor as soon as possible to find out what is causing your symptoms, and to get treatment.

Yes it can be painless, you can find out two ways, one go to the doctor, the other is more fun: go skydiving on you way down you will feel a horrible pain... the pressure differential will let you know.

You have an ear infection alright. I had an ear infection and did not know. I had the same simtoms as you and i ended up passing out for a couple of minutes. The dizziness is because the ear is very close to the brain and the infection of the ear is causing the brain to react to it. I had no pain in my ear, so ear infections can be painless.
