ASBESTOS....should my hubby knock down shed full of asbestos??
his brother asked him to do it(brothers shed) I think it is out of order asking some1 to do that for you..he should do it himself! why risk some1 elses health!?????

by the way..i have told him not to! and he says he wont! it's the fact of his bro asking in the 1st place! and he said to reward him he would light the barbe!! woop woop! he is a cheapskate and does my hubbs no favours!

Mark M
I am not sure where you are from but in Australia and The UK it is illegal to knock down and dispose of structures known to contain asbestos. You will need to employ a company specialised in the safe removal of the shed.

Sure, go ahead and let him do it!

Just make sure your life insurance is paid up! In a few years you'll get to pick out a new husband and you and he can travel on all the insurance money you'll be getting!

Or, you could just call a professional asbestos removal company if you want to keep the current husband.

Good Luck!

Don't do it. One March 9, 2005 my Dad died of Asbestosis. He was exposed to it during his employment. Once it is in your lungs you do not get rid of it. I cant even begin to tell you how horrible it is to watch someone you love not able to breath even while on a respirator. And if you think that its just a small amount of exposure, dont be fooled. THIS STUFF KILLS!!!

No way! it is important that this is done by one of the firms that specialise in asbestos removal. They will have the appropriate protective clothing. There are plenty to be found in the Yellow Pages.

Just me!
No he should not even get near asbestos

unless he has the proper predictive garments to cover his body and with breathing, it get into the lungs and cause cancer and other problems.

Click on the link below and read all the problems it causes.

Foxy Chick
I think the only fire his brother will be seeing is at the crematorium (not the bar b q). As if you ask someone to do that. Is he too tight to pay for a professional? Does his life mean that little?

lou
its illegal to do it yourself as you have to have registered professionals to do it and dispose of it correctly, tell them this as it is very dangerous not just for them but others around the area also, hope this is of help to you

no he mustn't you must use a specialist company that deal with asbestos, and take it away safely

Mummy B

No definitley not. Asbestos is now illegal and to have it removed you have to , by law, get professionals to do it because it has to be disposed of in a ceratin way. Call in the professionals.

Because of the serious health risk it would be best to pay for a professional team to do the job and for them to take it away and disposing of it. Make sure that they are a reputable company that doen't fly tip though.

babyblues_752001
Nope - call in the experts. They are fully trained to treat and dispose of it....don't touch the stuff...nasty...

Emily Hobhouse
NO. My son is a trained asbestos removal person and he has to wear special fitted face masks, etc etc. Teh danger comes from the fibres from the asbestos as it is broken up - you can live with it in its finished state with no harm, but when the fibres are broken, they enter your lungs.
Call in the professionals. You'll need a surveyor.

trevathecleva
I am sure you know that absestos can cause cancer (carcenogen/mesothelioma {spelling srry}). So if he doesn't value his life or lungs than sure. That is a very dangerous job! there are teams of people that remove asbestos professionally. It can be very expensive.

So do you like your husband???

you need to have the proper gear and knowledge to do this without risking lung problems down the way years later...special cover clothes and a specific air mask filter made for that

Peachy Girl
He should get a professional in to remove it most importantly because of both their health but mainly because asbestos is so dangerous that if they are caught just throwing it away they will most definitely be fined but could also be charged for endangering other people lives

Tom S

jesus no. its really dangerous without breathing apparatus and a full protective suit. I think it is also illegal to do it without professional help in most places.

eagledreams

Absolutely not.......report to the authorities and they should have asystem in place to come and deal with it for you......the people doing the job would have special protective clothing etc.......don't let him do it

lolly
Do not touch this shed. Call the council and they will send some one around to access the health implications.

MAdFool
No - brother shouldn't be a cheapskate - get someone who knows what they're doing.

You need a professional to do that its highly dangerous it can kill plus it needs to get disposed of properly

no dont get a pro in well dangorous

Are you kidding? Neither of them should do it. That stuff is extremely dangerous. His brother needs to call in a professional team that knows how to safely dispose of the place. I don't care how well protected your husband thinks he is, he isn't trained in asbestos removal procedure. If I were you, I'd pull the "I'm your wife and I forbid you" card. Trust me, you'd be doing him a favor.

rusty
i would go and stick his brothers hesd in the shed..never mind..that stuff..is poison to the lungs..

starrwoode

no he should not do it, i think they actually have to have a hasmat rated company do it or they will get charged with environmental hazzards.

k²
It is ILLEGAL to knowingly remove and dispose of asbestos.

Get specialists to do it. It's not worth the risk to your health.

Silke
I wouldn't do it.

Nj
Rating
You need professionals to deal with this, it can be extremely dangerous!

Kaypee
NO No No... It is illegal. You need to be registered to knock it down and you have to dispose of the asbestos at an approved site. Big fines for those that don't nver mind the health hazard to everyone in the surrounding area.

Day Sleeper
DON'T DO IT!!! That would send asbestos buy the load into the air for him to inhale. He should tell his brother to contact a contractor to remove it properly or he could be seriously risking his health.

It seems to me that his brother knows better than to do something like this. I would tell him to thank his brother and yea he will do it just after his brother loads a 45mm, looks down the barrel, and pulls the trigger to see if the gun works.

Brilliant!
