Well I'm already blind, and it certainly isn't horrible. I can still read and write with the write technology, and I can still paint and sculpt, and I can still fence and play soccer and swim and ride horses. I can still go everywhere I need/want to go and do all the things you need to do to live (prepare food, shop, handle money, dress, clean, etc) independently. I can use a computer and serf the internet, I can play cards and board games and some computer games, I can go to a regular university and major in Computer Science, and really keep just about any job short of fireman or brain surgeon. I can play guitar and bass and piano and I can sing and listen to my favorite music. I can talk to my friends! That's a biggie, and I can raise children and be able to hear and speak to them as well... WITHOUT help. I can hear it when someone is smiling or frowning as they speak and I can pick up on cues most people miss. I can do a lot of things that sighted people either can't do or think they have to have vision in order to do and I like it. I would HATE to be deaf. |

I think it would be terrible to be deaf as I love music. But I guess I would rather this than be blind as I would hate never being able to read, see my loved ones or go somewhere nice like on holiday somewhere beautiful and never seeing the wonderful sights. x |

Deaf, no contest. Much easier to be independant. My mother-in-law is blind, and my father-in-law is deaf. He does everything except answer the phone. |
