 Blind! HELP! IM BLIND!?

I'm afraid to leave my house because I think I'm too ugly. How to get help?
For the last year I have not being able to go outside because I think I'm too ugly, and I get panic attacks, and angry on myself for being so ugly. I really need help.

see a therapist they can help you.

Quit thinking of yourself all the time and just DO IT! If you are truly ugly, not just think you are ugly then see a plastic surgeon.

You shouldn't say you are ugly.Beauty lies within not without. My mom used to say pretty is as pretty does.I'm sure you are too hard on yourself.Concentrate on all your good points and your opinion will change about yourself.Try emailing the person mentioned with your replies.
Sounds like you have a friend already.

You need to stop caring what other people might think. FACE THE WORLD WITH YOUR HEAD HELD HIGH!

and if that doesn't work try reaching the center of the problem there is a reason you have such low self esteem. Maybe something happened in your past or something your afraid of in your future.

and if neather of those work and you really have nothing else to do. Get a make over. It will make you feel more confident about yourself.

Hope this helps

You must not think that way!
We are all different and we cannot compare ourselves to others and that's how you THINK you are ugly. Do you know that the "ugly duckling" turned out to grow up into a beautiful swan? Do you know the story? If you start thinking about nice and lovely thoughts , you might feel better about yourself. If you can afford it, please pay to see a therapist, who will be an expert to help you think better and not feel this way.

i used to have this probem until i had concrete surgery
(similar to plastic surgery but a lot cheaper).
i got a friend to hit me in the face with a brick and now i'm a lot better looking.
you'll always be able to think of a reason not to go out.
us telling you different won't change anything.
you've got to go out sometime and when you do don't think about it and you'll be fine

well if you are a girl, try to correct these things for best of your abilities, also remember everybody in this world are ugly, not only you, they all go to saloons and makeup shops, no one has natural beauty as you get in cartoons. so dont compare cartoon character or film starts to you life, they all are fake, if you see them in natural life you want even recognize them.

so try to look after these things first, and improve them.

Your body mass (if too fat try to reduce as much as possible)
your hair ( make it straight or curly and add some colour if you like.
your teeth, make sure they are ok- if not go to a dentist
your skin- keep clean all the time, and keep healthy, if you need help on skin go to a skin care doctor

and always keep calm, do not get angry if anybody says something to you, you cant help him or he cant help you. you live your life the way it is. and make it improve day by day. and stop eating junk food. cook and eat real food. clean your home, and exercise a bit.

good luck

hu tld dat u r ugly??..........god has made everi1 alike in his own way..........u shld nevr say such things........i dunno hw u luk but maybi u r really beautiful......if u r really scared den be bold 2 walk frward and go out den lets c if anybdy mocks at u!!!

Who gives a f**k about how you look like just tell them to go f**k them selves.

I wonder who has made you feel ugly? I felt ugly when I was a teenager because my mother told me I was. It was years before I realised that the problem was her, and that really I was not ugly at all. Perhaps something like that has happened to you. If so, ask yourself whether you really care about that person's opinion anyway. Dont let them ruin your life for you.

I would be very surprised if you really are ugly, but even if it is true then people will still like you as a person and you need not be afraid. I agree with everyone else who suggested that you need to talk to your GP. I know it is no comfort to say that there are bound to be people worse off than you, but remember that some people have terrible burns on their faces from an accident, or huge red birthmarks on their faces, or terrible scars from accidents and disease, and they still go outside and make friends. If they can do it, so can you, you just need confidence. Easy to say I know, but please try before you waste any more of your life indoors. If there is one particular thing bothering you, for example if you have a huge nose or sticky-out ears, your GP will tell you honestly whether you look out of the ordinary. It is possible to get cosmetic surgery on the NHS but only if you really need it. Probably your GP will tell you that you look within the normal range and you just need to build your self esteem. I hope things work out for you. xx

Yeah, you seem to have some self-esteem issues.

Maybe you just need to make some changes. Diet, exercise, dermatologist, go to a spa and get pampered, a makeover maybe. You should be comfortable in your own skin! I would seek some help tho. Councilling is a wonderful thing. People go to doctors when they are sick,...same goes for your brain! They are there to help you thru things like this. Good luck!

write down all your good qualities, and everything good u have done in your life,or even ask your closest friend an family to each write down something that they like about you,im sure there will be lots of things
you sound like you need a confidence boost!
you dont have to look like a celebrity to be beautiful,

beauty comes from within.

Are you serious? You have a big self esteem issue! What caused this? I really don't think your that ugly unless you are seriously seriously deformed, are you? No offense if that's the case, I'm sure cosmetic surgery can work its magic. But if not you can't be that ugly, no woman is! Just by the simple fact of being a women. Some just learn how to dress, style hair and make up and take care of themselves better. But you can practice all this!

There is a condition for thinking you are ugly but I can not remember what it is called. If it stops you from leading a normal life you really need help. Please go to your GP who may prescribe some CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

You should see a doctor about you condition, before you hurt yourself.

I believe that I am my own worst critic. I am harder on myself than anyone else could ever be.

I have those times when I don't want to attend a family or company function where people who haven't seen me in a while will see me (I have gained a substantial amount of weight and am in my mid-thirties).

I don't like the person who looks back at me in the mirror every day now. I only see the parts of me that I hate.

Then...... I remember how very blessed I am. I have a home, I have a husband and a family that loves me, I pay my bills and sometimes have a little to spare. I have the freedom to do pretty much whatever I want when I want and a couple really great friends.

When I stop to think about all the blessings I have instead of my relatively small problems..... it puts things in perspective.

You should feel blessed - you can see the words on this screen (you're not blind), you have a place to live, access to a computer (over 3/4 of the worlds population does not) and I know there is someone close to you that would do just about anything for you if you needed them.

I have my bad feelings too, but compared to my blessings.... my problems are pretty small and I will deal with them it's just gonna take time.

What's worse than being ugly on the outside... is being ugly on the inside. That kind of ugly can never be overcome.

Be beautiful on the inside and let others see that.... if you're feeling bad about yourself, do something good for someone else and all of a sudden, you feel better about you too.

Just a few ways I deal with my self-put-downs sometimes....

Okay, my advice for you is to see a therapist, counselor, or talk to a friend/family member. I don't think people on Yahoo answers are going to be much help. We can give you advice, but it's really up to you to make a move and start trying to recover and build self-esteem. We can't do it for you!!

Little one,
Decode this lyrics" Everything is beautiful"
Ever wonder why were you counting yourself short?
Our creator created living human kind all equal.
Why must you live in misery ?
When we all "Live under the same sun"
You are beautiful in your own way.
So go out and enjoy yourself under the sun and have fun out there.

i think its confidants you lack , hold your head up high and try and go out and meet people it might be hard in the start but it will get easier..good luck

It is deeper than that, you need to see your doctor...

well just tell yourself you are pretty and say i love myself. I dont know i guess call a theorpist and ask them if they do house calls bc you have problems leaving your home.

Hi! I'm so sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. I saw a TV programme about people who suffer in the same way. The great news is there is a very effective treatment. It's called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It worked for all the participants. (It also is the most effective treatment for panic attacks and anxiety.)

You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: http://www.livinglifetothefull.com/elear... It has been funded by NHS Scotland and has had great results thus far. (A ‘prettier’ version of this type of programme can be bought at www.thewellnessshop.co.uk). If you don’t like computers, the best book is Dr Robert Burns, The Feeling Good Handbook. It basically teaches CBT and used by many psychologists.

In addition, to help with your general anxiety take the following steps:

1. Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. This site has instructions on how to do it without the tapes (and other useful info): http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resource...

Please try CBT because I’m sure it will really help – you just need to stick at it. I hope you’re out and about soon, and feeling great about yourself! Best of luck to you.

Thank you for getting on line, that is a major step in the right direction,i have issues about going into the public, there are a few million people with the same problems i to get panic attacks but fewer now because there is help, don't be shy about calling a community mental health center they don't know who you are let them know your symptoms an I'm sure they can help you get over this esteem problem and the panic attacks , my panic attack were bad, but i have better self-esteem now, PROMISE YOU WILL DO THIS ITS FOR YOUR OWN BEST INTEREST

Mira Mira on the waLL!
Dont beat yourself up. I hope you're not comparing yourself to celeberties, b/c most of the time on tv and photos, everything is retouched, they dont really look that good, even when people say they dont even have on makeup sometimes. If your a big girl, go for a sixteen minute run once a day, and change your diet, my sister did it, for 3 months and she looks amazing, she inspired one of her friends.
But if you're not a big girl, then could you tell me exactly what you think is ugly about your face? I dont know what you look like so I dont know what to tell you, if I did I could tell you the proper makeup to buy. Describe yourself please.
Anyway, girl, you need to get some confidence first, i used to think I was ugly and put myself down all the time, but I learned nobodys perfect (i know...its corny) some ppl act like their so perfect when they have so many problems.
But what I did, was pick out things things that I liked about myself, (Not just looks) personality.
Sorry if didnt help you, I tried

I'm a bit like that too. But your probably not even ugly. I don't think anyone (apart from me) is ugly if they smile, laugh or seem happy.

Why do you even care what people think? You may be ugly or you might be average, and hey.. you might even be hot, but why would you let others control your life?

Marisa[rip Gordon Parody]
You just gotta do it. Most people judge their physical apperences way too harshly. I'm sure you don't look half as bad as you think you do.

Ugly isn't how you're born, it's how you handle what you have, so don't think of your looks, but your behavior that leads to them. Most people who are obsessed with their looks take it way too seriously and put too much importance on it. Do you judge a person based on how they look? Probably to some extent. Really, it's not that important, and even if people DO look at you, it's not because you're ugly, but because you won't go outside because of your imagined ugliness.

Hi... It sounds like you're having a lot of trouble right now and I'm really sorry to hear that. Feeling that you are "too ugly" to leave your home is serious. Panic attacks are also very scary as you feel like you are having a heart attack. I want to really commend you on reaching out for help because that is the first step, and it's a tough one sometimes.

I think what some of the other members recommended in contacting a medical doctor or mental health professional (therapist) is the best choice. I recommend that you research some therapists and/or clinics in your area or, if you are more comfortable, seek recommendations from your doctor, family, and/or friends.

I realize that leaving your home to see a therapist might be very difficult for you, but this is an important step. In the past year, has there been any other time when you have left your home for any reason? If so, can you find a way to use those reasons (or similar ones) to help you to motivate yourself to leave the house for this purpose? If you have not left in the last year at all, is there any reason that would motivate you to leave, such as a physical illness? Make an appointment with a qualified mental health professional (and/or your physician) and find whatever ways you can to motivate yourself to go. Without more details, I can't be more specific but I hope this helps.

In addition, let me just say that, in general, these types of problems do not just go away on their own. The more you reinforce these behaviors, such as staying inside and repeating in your head that you are so unattractive, the harder it will become to break these habits. Instead of being angry at yourself, perhaps it would help to understand that you're suffering from an illness right now, just not a physical one. You would never be angry at yourself for having a stomach virus, would you? Since you're not well right now, you need to take care of yourself and for this "illness," a therapist is the best person to help.

I wish you all the best and a fast recovery! Good luck!
