if your sister has been suffering from flu like symptoms for 3 weeks it most likely is not the flu!!!!!!!! She shoulf go see a doc

Linda B
it depends on the person

Jan C
She may have an allergy that mimics the flu. I suggest seeing the Dr.

A flu is a virus. The flu virus usually last about 10 days. They can weaken your body though to get another cold or possibly go into bronchitis or pneumonia. Care is needed as soon as possible from a Doctor to minimize the effects. The best thing is to get a flu shot which will greatly help but not always. Rest and fluids are essential while you are sick.

Influenza (flu) is an acute disease with a rapid onset and pronounced symptoms... After the influenza virus invades a person’s body, an incubation period of one to two days passes before symptoms appear. Classic symptoms include sore throat, dry cough, stuffed or runny nose, chills, fever with temperatures as high as 103º F aching muscles and joints, headache, loss of appetite, occasional nausea and vomiting, and fatigue. For most people flu symptoms begin to subside after two to three days and disappear in seven to ten days. However, coughing and fatigue may persist for two or more weeks.

The fever usually lasts for a day or two, but can last 5 days. Cough and tiredness usually last for weeks after the rest of the illness is over. In most individuals who are otherwise healthy, the flu goes away within 7 to 10 days. Sometimes people confuse Cold And Flu, which share some of the same symptoms and typically occur at the same time of the year. However, the two diseases are very different. Most people get a cold several times each year, and the flu only once every several years.
