 I feel so fat!?
Im ten and in 5th grade. Last year i weighed 69 pounds this year 75 i have so much extra fat and im afaird to go back to school on monday. What should I do?...

Thanksgiving is a special day, you can have it all, but it's quanity that counts, stick to the white meat of the turkey, no skin, and just a forkfull or two of everthing else, just watch the gravey, and perhaps a half slice of pumpkin pie, with a little bit of whipped cream on top, It is Thanksgiving, that doesn't mean you have to go over board, but just be mindfull of it, and if you slip up, Carrot sticks for you on Friday.

This is what you do:

fill 2/4 your plate with vegitbles. (corn, potatoes, greens, carrots)
fill 1/4 of your plate with protein. (turkey, chicken, ham)
and fill 1/4 of your plate with a wheat or whole grain product. (bread, crackers, rice)
you are also alowed 1/8th of your plate to be fat. (butter, gravy, ext.)

remember: DON'T OVER EAT. Eat super slowly. a good tip to keep your self from eating to fast is to chew your food 20 times ( more or less depending on the food, and how big of a bite you took).

don't confuse thirst for hunger. before you decide to eat, take a nice long cold drink of water which might end up takeing away the "hunger".

if at the end you do eat too much, thats okay. just take a 30 minute jog, at 6 miles per hour, and do around 100 sit ups.

works for me.

Eat turkey and all the good stuff that goes with it. Its not like your gonna gain 10 pounds from one big meal just dont stuff yourself to the point where your gonna get sick.

for turkey try eating the chiken brest with out any of skin...in stead of mashed potatoes eat veggies...if u cant live with out the potatoes try to substitute them with a better kind of starch or even red potatoes...try to avoid sugars or eat a portoin size..=) thats about the most basic way i can help u

just don't over do it. help with the dishes and clean-up then you'll get moving after eating... don't go laze on the couch ;)

Diets don't work to loose weight and keep it off. To do that you have to change your eating habits and exercise habits permanently.

Unless you habitually eat turkey, Cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie, you shouldn't worry about what you eat on Thanksgiving. Its the rest of the year you should concern yourself with.

After Thanksgiving, learn about healthy foods and ways to prepare vegetables that you find tasty. The only exercise that will do you any good is exercise that will keep your interest, so find activities that you find fun.

If you are cooking then it is easier. You can make things that work on your diet and don't make enough that there will be left overs. If you are eating at someone else's house then eat a bit of everything you like and try not to over do it.

I believe that if you want to lose weight and keep it off you need to learn to change your eating habits so that you can get through holidays like Thanksgiving with moderation. Think about what you will allow yourself to eat tomorrow based on what you know will be there. Consider your portion sizes as well. Plan to get some exercise tomorrow morning before you begin your celebration. Then just relax and trust yourself to enjoy the day without doing anything you will regret later.

You obviously are thinking about it now so just decide what you will allow yourself tomorrow and stick to it!

This year I know there will be a whole lot of dishes made by many good cooks. I will aslo be bringing some yummy dishes. I have decided on what things I will put on my plate already. One helping is all I will allow and I will limit some things like the turkey in order to have a bit more of my favorites like the sweet potatoes. I know I will go over my normal calorie limit for the day but I will exercise twice tomorrow to make up for it and on Friday as well. That is my plan and I know I will stick to it because I will get to enjoy myself at the feast even though I won't be "pigging out"!

BUT I have mangaged to lose 2 lbs this week by eating right and exercising and drinking water...

pick out your favorite things and eat some...don't go hog wild, but don't deny yourself your favorite things. Drink lots of water and maybe eat something like apples or something high fiber before the big meal to fill up your stomach with few calories but lots of bulk so you won't eat too much at dinner.

oh and limit the alcohol, once I start drinking the diet goes out the window, I don't care what I eat and alcohol is just liquid calories!!

I READ THIS IN A MAGAZINE ONCE AND I ALWAYS REMBER THIS WHEN I WANT TO IT EAT REAL FOOD, YOU DON'T GAIN WEIGHT IN ONE DAY, YOU GAIN WEIGHT FROM EATING JUNK FOOD EVERYDAY. ONE DAY IS NOT GOING TO HURT, REMBER THE DAY AFTER IS A NEW DAY TO START FRESH ENJOY THANKGIVING IS ONLY ONCE A YEAR !!!

Try to cut the carbs which means eat little or none of the following:
Potatoes
Bread
Milk products
Sweets ( including yams)
Fruit
Chips

Fill up on meat and veggies.

Just watch your portions and don't stress too much that day. It's nearly impossible to eat a perfect diet everyday so just let tomorrow be one of your sliding days. Don't over do it. Just enjoy yourself without feeling like you need to be rolled away from the dinner table. :)

I would say watch your carb intake. With it being thanksgiving, and a lot of traditional dishes being passed around, it'll be hard to find something without carbs. Just know this, eat whatever you like. Enjoy yourself, let go. Then, on the following day work extra hard on losing that added weight. Heck, work harder the next few times you work out. If you don't, walk a little more. Going shopping? Park further away. Every little bit helps.

Have small portions. Fill up on salads, veggies, etc. Drink a glass of water before the meal. Or even eat a snack prior to the meal (a piece of fruit perhaps) so you can resist the urge to "pig out." Focus on other pleasant aspects of the holiday--having a day off, being with family, etc. Does food have to be the focus?

Hmm...there are some lists online that tell you what are the least fattening holiday options. Google for them, I can only remember some.

Pumpkin pie is the least fattening pie (pecan is the worst)
White meat instead of dark meat.
Gravy instead of Cranberry sauce
