not to be rude but yes. I am 5'2" and i am 13 and i weigh 74 lb

small frame:104-115
medium frame:113-126
large frame: 122-137
*your in the large frame but your perfectly healthy for your age. don't let other people let you down*
here are a few awesome tips that you MUST read!!
Be aware of what you drink!
It's amazing how many extra calories are in the sodas, juices, and other drinks. Cutting out soda completely can save you 360 calories or more each day. AVOID diet soda too, the artificial sweeteners are probably not good very good for you & they tend to make some people hungry. Drink a lot of water. Switching from whole to nonfat or low fat milk is also a good idea, or switching to Soy milk is even a better idea.

Move your body!
You may find that you don't need to give up calories as much as you need to get off your behind. And don't get stuck in the rut of thinking you have to play a team sport or take an aerobics class - try a variety of activities from hiking to cycling to rowing until you find ones you like. Not a jock, you say? Find other ways to fit activity into your day: walk to school, jog up and down the stairs a couple of times before your morning shower or take a stroll past your crush's house - anything that gets you moving. Your goal should be to work up to 30 minutes of aerobic exercise at least 3 to 5 times a week - but it's fine to start out by simply taking a few turns around the block before bed. This may also help you to avoid becoming a TV, video game, or Internet junkie!

Start small!
Drastic changes are much harder to stick with than small changes. Try reducing the size of the portions you eat and giving up regular soda for a week. Once you have that down, start gradually introducing healthier foods and exercise into your life.

Stop eating when you're full!
Lots of teens (and adults) eat when they're bored, lonely, or stressed or keep eating long after they're full out of habit. Slowing down can help because it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to recognize how much is in your stomach. Sometimes taking a break before going for seconds can keep you from eating them. Avoid eating when you feel upset or bored - try to find something else to do instead (a walk around the block or a trip to the gym are good alternatives). Many teens find it's helpful to keep a diary of what they eat and when. Reviewing their diary later can help them identify the emotions they have when they overeat or whether they have unhealthy habits. A registered dietitian can give you pointers on how to do this.

Eat less more often!
Many people find that eating a couple of small snacks throughout the day helps them to make healthy choices at meals. Stick a couple of healthy snacks (carrot sticks, a low fat granola bar, pretzels, or a piece of fruit) in your backpack so that you can have one or two snacks during the day. Adding healthy snacks to your three squares and eating smaller portions when you sit down to dinner can help you to cut calories without feeling deprived.

Five a day keeps the pounds away.
Trash the junk food and buy lots of fruits and vegetables! Five or more servings of fruits and veggies aren't just a good idea to help you lose weight - they'll help keep your heart and the rest of your body healthy. Other suggestions for eating well: exchange white bread for whole-wheat; drink lots of water and make sure you eat a healthy breakfast. Don't skip breakfast. (Having low fat cereal and milk and a piece of fruit is a much better idea than inhaling a donut as you run to the bus stop or eating no breakfast at all!) A registered dietitian can give you lots of other snack and menu ideas.

Avoid fad or prepackaged diets.
If we were meant to eat from cans, they'd grow on trees. It's never a good idea to trade meals for shakes or to give up a food group in the hope that you'll lose weight - we all need a variety of foods to stay healthy. Teens, in particular, should stay away from fad diets because they're still growing and need to make sure they get proper nutrients. Avoid diet pills (even the over-the-counter or herbal variety) unless your doctor prescribes them! These can be very addictive!

Don't banish certain foods.
Don't tell yourself you'll "never" again eat your absolutely favorite peanut butter chocolate ice cream or a bag of chips from the vending machine at school. Making these foods forbidden is sure to make you want them even more. Besides, you need to have some fat in your diet to stay healthy, so giving up all fatty foods all the time isn't a good idea anyway. The key to long-term success is making healthy choices most of the time. If you want a piece of cake at a party, go for it! But munch on the carrots rather than the chips to balance it out later in the evening. For more on Fast Foods >>

Forgive yourself.
So you were going to have one cracker with spray cheese on it and the next thing you know the can's pumping air and the box is empty? Drink some water, brush your teeth, and move on. Everyone who's ever tried to lose weight has found it challenging. When you slip up, the best idea is to get right back on track and don't look back. Avoid telling yourself that you'll get back on track tomorrow or next week or after New Year's. Start now.

Some Dieting Rules

Remember, any successful diet means consuming fewer calories, eating less food, but eating healthy food, (see Fab Foods for more). You are fooling yourself if you think a diet that permits you to eat anything you what will help you to lose weight. To lose weight follow these simple rules:

Don't eat a large meal in the evening when you'll have little opportunity for exercise afterwards. It's best to eat more at the times when you are going to be the most active. Eat a hearty breakfast, a substantial lunch, and a light dinner.

Never skip breakfast!

Eat slowly and thoroughly chew your food.

Don't eat while you're doing anything else like watching TV, using the computer or doing your homework.

Stop frying food.

If you must snack, stock the fridge with low calorie snacks like raw vegetables and low fat yogurt.

Calorie Burning Tips

1. Instead of riding elevators or escalators, take the stairs.
2. At the supermarket park farther away from the door as you usually would. Take a couple extra laps around the market too if you have the time.
3. Instead of plopping down on the couch during "Friends", do some house chores or better yet go for a nice brisk walk.
4. If you take the bus or the subway, stand in the aisle and let someone else have your seat.
5. Instead of going out to dinner, go out and walk, rollerblade or play pool (something physical).
6. At work, instead of taking coffee breaks, take walk breaks, and no smoking please!
7. If possible once or twice a week, ride your bike to work or to the gym.
8. Instead of sitting back and watching your younger siblings play (or if you are baby-sitting), get on the floor and play with them, at first they may think you are crazy, but they may like it.
9. Instead of letting the dog out to roam the yard, take the dog for a walk.
10. Cut your grass (with a push mower), your parents will love this too.
11. While watching TV, lie on your back and do some leg lifts or some isometrics with your arms while watching.
12. Wash the floors, it burns calories and uses many muscle groups. A clean floor isn’t so bad either. Just be careful of your knees.

Good luck dieting and remember to eat smart!

ur not overweight but try some exercise because frankly im picturing you chubby
im turning 15 on march and im 14now and i weigh 100 lbs

Lonnie M
Yes, you are a little over weight. If you gain a couple more inches, without gaining weight you will be good.

At 5 feet tall, you are supposed to be about 100lbs. Depending on how much muscle mass you have, you can determine how much you should lose.

Dean C
Don't even be thinking about it now. You are way to young to worry about that. When you start getting taller you will slim up.

hope i helped <3

little bit.eat healthy

Yes. That is overweight. You are young and let me tell you from my own experience, it is A LOT easier to lose weight now than it will be later in life. Being overweight can limit your options in nearly every aspect of your life. You are so young, you don't want this to stand between you and your potential, right? You don't want to be 40 years old and look back at your youth and wonder what might have been if you were not overweight. Think of school dances, dating, sports, clothes, parties, etc. Your weight will have an effect on all those. You don't have a lot to lose. That is the good news. Just eat more healthy. Don't piece between meals. (If you MUST because you are hungry, eat something filling but lower in calories like fruit, fat free yogurt, or salad). Exercise. It doesn't have to be excessive. Just more than you currently do. Learn about healthy eating habits. You don't have to give up good tasting food. Just make better choices. Ask your mom for help, too. She should provide you with some healthy snacks and meals. Good luck.

yes but not by much just lose 5 pounds i checked your bmi on a calculater. There is nothing to be upset about just like your body the way it is.

-.- ahm well im 15. Im around 5'1 and weigh around104

In June you will be 144 months old... that is far to young to be concerned with your height versus your weight ratio. talk to your mom, or your auntie, get your self into the habit of eating healthy, do not go on any diet.. and stop thinking about diets.. concider being healthy instead.. and dont listen to any one telling you how to loose weight fast... enjoy your childhood, it doesn't last very long. lots of youngsters of your age group have what we grown ups call 'puppy fat' and this is needed as your emergency store for all the growing you are doing at the moment, also you will have your period soon, if not already, so things are going to be all over the place, that is the way of nature..
The only foods that I would recommend you cut out are sugary stuffs, and that is for your health as a human being not as a young one who is concerned for their body image at your age.
take care x

U are still growing, TALLER!!!!! just don't forget, stop eating just cause your bored, and give up the junk food, u will be ok ;-)
God bless ya kid

my doctor says im just by a few pounds under.
but hunny dont worry some people weigh way more then that.
just do a few situps during the day.

It doesn't soud like you are, but as long as you're healthy (just because someone's overweight doesn't mean they can't be healthy), who cares if you're "overweight"?

Jay B
nope id think so

depends.. if you are not engaged in a lot of physical activity then that sounds ok, a little heavier than perhaps is ideal but not overweight.. that would be like 200lbs!
im 15, 5'5" and am 130 too and I do dance a lot during the week..

I hate you. lol jk
ur 5 feet and ur only 11?!
Im 14 and im 5 feet!
nah, ur not overweight. and dont worry 'bout it, hun. so long as your ok w/ ur body, nobody else should matter!

Silent Mo
Overweightedness is a figment of the media. Chill ya beans and have some pie

dont go by "the chart". according to it, i am about 20 lbs overweight. and an online calculator says im obese....LMFAO! im 5'7" and about 165 ish. i have a lot of muscle and look like im 110. sometimes it's obvious, but you cant just go on the numbers alone. step back and take a long rational look at yourself, then YOU decide.

No, you've still got a growth spurt or two left in you. Maybe if you were 20 and a little heavier....

It depends on your bone structure and muscle tone. Get plenty of exercise, eat good fresh food (fruit, vegetables), skinless chicken, salads, have fish at least once a week if you can. Then lay off the fatty snacks like cheeto's, cookies, etc., and drink lots of water in between meals.

Then it won't matter if you weight 130 or 140, because you'll be solid, healthy, fit, and feeling good. Work on being healthy. Don't worry about losing weight. A 130lb healthy girl, who eats well and gets plenty of exercise is much better than a 90lb girl who doesn't eat right and can't stay focused in school. If you take care of your body now, it will take care of you for many years to come.

Remember your body is like an engine. It needs fuel to operate. Feed it healthy food, work it out with exercise, and it'll be in great shape! :-)

And btw: SHAME on all of the rest of you telling her she should weigh less. Where did you get your medical degree?

When I was 13, I was 5'2" and weighed 125lbs. I was solid. I had a butt like my jeans were packed full of cement. I ran track, cross country, and I played softball. When I was 15, I shot up to 5'7" and weighed the same. I could out run any boy or girl in my entire high school. When I graduated high school, I was 5'9", weighed 130lbs, and I could bench press 90lbs. I'm 27 now. I'm 5'9", I weigh 136 lbs. I have more muscles than 5 skinny little girls tied together, and less fat than a skinless chicken leg.

So you see, you cannot base fat content on weight, unless the person is obese, and standing before you. Muscle weighs a lot. We don't know what kind of shape this little girl is in. You can be 90 lbs and still out of shape, and more fat than muscle. If you don't build muscle, and you're starving your body, it WILL store fat. Somebody can appear to go through a "chubby" phase in their early years, but grow up and be completely fit and healthy. It's all in the mind. Don't tell a little girl to go on a diet though. Dieting will not help her. Eating healthy and making it a way of LIVING will help her. Starvation never helped anybody and if you don't believe me, move to Ethiopia.

Kind of.
Running is the best all over fat burner. If you do not like running, have breathing problems or cannot run, you can walk at an incline. For example if you walk on a treadmill at 4 mph at 10 incline for 45 minutes, you have burned 500 calories. Eat mostly fruits, vegetables, and protiens. Try to cut back on sugar or not eat anything full of sugar such as candy, cookies, etc but natural sugars (found in fruit) are fine. Here is a meal plan that will help you lose weight fast and not be too hard to follow:

1/2 grapefruit
2 egg whites
slice of whole wheat toast

Fiber One bar
serving size bag of Sunchips(your choice of flavor)
Celery with peanut butter

breaded and baked fish (any kind you like) or chicken
peas or any kind of vegetable
brown rice

cottage cheese
protien shake (one scoop protien powder, nonfat milk, frozen fruit)

Also make sure you drink enough water. Drink one glass on nonfat skim milk a day or have it in a shake and then drink NOTHING but water. Take your weight and divide it by 2. The convert pounds to ounces. For example, if you weighed 150 lbs then divide by 2 = 75 lbs then convert to ounces - 75 ounces of water a day. Make sure to drink that much water every day.

Good luck :)
