Can i die of cancer if i don't smoke?

♥Shopping Fever♥
NO but u can get other kind of cancer in different part of body..............

Somak Ray
Yes u may die of cancer even if u dont smoke! although risks of lung cancer r limited, other types of cancer r also present!

yes. in fact 2nd hand smoke is more dangerous.

Yeah, you can die of cancer just by breathing

sure, you dont have to get lung cancer but you can die of that too if you work in an environment full of dust and particles and some other chemicals. no one is ever safe from any kind of cancer, mainly because we dont know all of the causes of any kind of cancer. nor do we really know the best ways to treat it, even after all of these years its just punching in the dark. sad to say. oh and by the way, im a 20 year cancer survivor.

yeps...but it depends if you are a passive smoker. You might not smoke but if you stay in high smoking areas you could be affected more than the smokers themselves.

Yes, BUT smoking will increase your chances of getting cancer, and/or emphysema which will make you feel like a living dead. AND being I have breast cancer but quit smoking 10 years ago they have told me, I probably prevented my cancer from spreading to my lungs, by doing so.
Chemo is not fun.

There are plenty of types cancer besides lung with different etiology or unknown cause.

That one guy

Dear Denzil

The answer to your medical question is [ YES ]

There are more than 100 types of cancers; any part of the body can be affected.
In 2005, 7.6 million people died of cancer - 13% of the 58 million deaths worldwide.
More than 70% of all cancer deaths occur in low and middle income countries.
Worldwide, the 5 most common types of cancer that kill men are (in order of frequency): lung, stomach, liver, colorectal and oesophagus
Worldwide, the 5 most common types of cancer that kill women are (in the order of frequency): breast, lung, stomach, colorectal and cervical
Tobacco use is the single largest preventable cause of cancer in the world.
One fifth of all cancers worldwide are caused by a chronic infection, for example human papillomavirus (HPV) causes cervical cancer and hepatitis B virus (HBV) causes liver cancer.
A third of cancers could be cured if detected early and treated adequately.
All patients in need of pain relief could be helped if current knowledge about pain control and palliative care were applied.
40% of cancer could be prevented, mainly by not using tobacco, having a healthy diet, being physically active and preventing infections that may cause cancer.
Please help to fight cancer in your individual capacity.

Smokers are not the only ones who get cancer. Ordinary people who don't smoke die of cancer every day, and so, yes, it's possible for you to get cancer and die from it.

Yes. Smoking can cause lung cancer, but there are also cases of lung cancer that is not caused by smoking. There are also hundreds of other kinds of cancer that have nothing whatever to do with smoking.

I think so, because cancer not come only from smoke.

Good luck.

although smoking is strongly associated with a number of malignancies , still there are many who have no association with smoking and rather have a genetic basis...... so answer to your question would be YES...... you may have any other form of cancer even if you dont smoke

you don't have to smoke to get cancer.and cancer doesn't always mean death. i had cancer in 1998 and here i am .

By not smoking ou only reduce your risk of getting Lung Cancer. However there are many other types of cancer and many cancers are deadly in that eventually a person dies from it, if .

just me
Yeah, what the first girl said...and second hand smoke can cause lung cancer too. My great aunt never smoked but her husband did and the doctor didn't believe her that she never smoked when he looked at her chest x-ray.

Yes, what doesn't cause cancer is the real question!

Smoking is not the only cause of cancer. If you have been smoking and you quit, you significantly lowered your chances of getting lung cancer, but it's not the only type of cancer out there.
If you have your regular check-ups at the doctor, you should be fine

Joseph, II
Sure. The only way I can guarantee you will NEVER get cancer- is if you don't LIVE. So quit worrying about it- before you do.

Yes, if you develop cancer. There are many kinds of cancer, and not all are caused from smoking. People have died of lung cancer and have never smoked a day in thier lives, but have been exposed to second-hand smoke.

cancer is what doctors call diseases or unexplainable abnormalities. it may be caused by what you eat, breath, come in contact with. some may even be from genes. thus, you conclude.

Yes. Cancer is no respector of persons. But you can work to try and prevent it by making good choices for your life and body.

second hand smoke is worse than if you did the smoking yourself. I know this to be true. I have an abnormally shaped heart and there were arteries that were closing that caused a stent to be put in . That is just what the doctor told me. I stay away from break rooms and restaurants that allow smoking.

gets flamed
there are many types of cancer, but staying away from smokers does help. and florida orange juice too :)

My mother died from lung cancer and never smoked

Yes. Smoking isn't the only cause. You have to look at environmental factors, heredity, food and artifical sweeteners, obesity and exercise, radiation, HPV, and hormones

Yes. For one, lung cancer isn't the only type of cancer. 2nd, smoking is NOT the only thing that causes lung cancer.
