I got it on a cruise ship. You can get it from walking outside barefoot, from a dirty lawn chair, other people... it's pretty easy to get. There are no symptoms except a darkened ring on your body somewhere. Mine was on my neck, and it started small but kept growing. I had had it for months and never knew what it was until my annual physical. My doctor gave me a prescription lotion that smelled awful that I had to wear every other day for a couple of weeks, and that got rid of it.

In the months that I had it, I never spread it to anyone. Usually children get it, it's not as common in adults.

Ringworm is an infection of the skin, characterized by a reddish raised or bumpy patch of skin that may be lighter in the center, giving the appearance of a “ring.” It can exist anywhere on the body.
You get ringworm by playing in rain puddles and just being exposed to that type of bacteria or fungi.

to stop it from spreading, put a coat of clear nail polish on it.

ringworm in an infaction (i think). it is basically a bunch of round "tunnle" looking circles on your skin. You can get it from petting animals with ringworm then f. ex. tounching your face.

Ringworm is a skin disease. If you think your diagnosed with ringworm here are some symptoms-
You will often scratch your scalp
If you think you have it; after a short period of time you will start to notice a appearance of bumps and sores on your scalp, this will cause your hair to form in clumps at the top of your head. Now, it is possible to get it cured in less then a week.
Good luck and I hope you don't have it.

Ring worm is a skin condition, it is a fungus that grows on your skin causign irritation...It is pretty contagious.

Ringworm is a common skin disorder, especially among children, but it may affect people of all ages. Although its name suggests otherwise, it is caused by a fungus, not a worm.

Many bacteria and fungi live on your body. Some of these are useful to you and your body. Others can multiply rapidly and form infections. Ringworm occurs when a particular type of fungus grows and multiplies anywhere on your skin, scalp, or nails.

Ringworm is contagious. It can be passed from one person to the next by direct skin-to-skin contact or by contact with contaminated items such as combs, unwashed clothing, and shower or pool surfaces. You can also catch ringworm from pets that carry the fungus. Cats are common carriers.

The fungi that cause ringworm thrive in warm, moist areas. Ringworm is more likely when you have frequent wetness (such as from sweating) and minor injuries to your skin, scalp, or nails.

The symptoms of ringworm include:

* Itchy, red, raised, scaly patches that may blister and ooze. The patches often have sharply-defined edges. They are often redder around the outside with normal skin tone in the center. This may create the appearance of a ring. Your skin may also appear unusually dark or light.
* When your scalp or beard is infected, you will have bald patches.
* If nails are infected, they become discolored, thick, and even crumble.
ingworm usually responds well to self-care within 4 weeks without having to see a doctor.

* Keep your skin clean and dry.
* Apply over-the-counter antifungal or drying powders, lotions, or creams. Those that contain miconazole, clotrimazole, or similar ingredients are often effective.
* Wash sheets and nightclothes every day while infected.

A severe or persistent infection may require treatment by a doctor. Antifungal pills may be given and are necessary if your hair is infected. Prescription antifungal skin medications, such as ketoconazole, are stronger than over-the-counter products and may be needed. Antibiotics may also be needed to treat related bacterial infections.

Infected pets also should be treated.

Ringworm is a fungus that you get from contact with objects that have had sweat or other human matter on them for a long time. the symptoms are a fleshy ring on the skin that is about and inch in diameter and it usually itches real bad. its highly contagious even on your own body meaning if you see it.

get some medicine and some big bandaids, put the medicine on it, cover it and wait it will go away in a couple days, if you wait it will leave a scar.

Ringworm is a fungus infection, and you can get it by coming in contact with dermatophytes that are in layers of dead skin, sometimes on animals or people who have the infection.

It's a flaky, itchy skin rash that has nothing to do with worms (it's a fungus!!!) I had it once, but had no idea how I got it. It was on the back of my neck and the doctor said it was probably from trying on clothes. I used an anti-fungal cream and it was gone within a couple weeks.

ring worm goes into your body and starts to tear your flesh slowly. you get it by other people touching them. I had it and you have to you this ointment for a month to get rid of it.

A ringworm is a type of fungus, they are round and pink and itch a lot. they are very contagous, and can spread very easily. I had one on my knee when I was a child and I had to get some purple medicine to put on it. If you get them on your head you might need to shave your head. I thnk you can get meds at the drug store for that condition.

It's a fungus...not a worm. It is a skin disease that requires treatment or it will spread to others who come in contact with you or something you've touched. My son was a wrestler and they had to be careful to shower before and after wrestling, disinfect the mats etc. There are some over the counter products that can help, but it might be best to see a doctor. It can appear as a reddish ring type of rash or just a yellowish, reddish bump, itchy, and weepy. If you are in a sport like wrestling there are skin sprays you can purchase that give you some protection.

Ring worm is not worms, but instead a fungal infection. It is characterized by a darker raised or bumpy patch of skin that may be lighter in the center, giving the appearance of a ring. You can get it by having skin-to-skin contact with an infected individual or by having contact with an item that has the fungus on it (e.g. wrestling mats, towels).

Medicine Woman
It is a fungus infection that gets under your skin and makes a circle that looks like a ring. You can get it from working in the garden or any kind of dirt or from someone who has one they are highly contageous. The most common form is athlete's feet but they can be anywhere. They are pretty easy to get rid of. Look at the pharmacy or walmart and find a anti-fungal cream (creams used for jock itch or athletes feet work good. Keep putting it on the circle until it is gone or you can get medication from the Dr. It kills the ringworm. It itches a lot too until you get rid of it. Kids get it a lot because of playing in the dirt. You have to have an anti-fungal cream or medication to kill it.
