What are some ways to clear my face of acne?
Ive been battling acne for a couple of years now. I use proactiv twice a day and it keeps my face from being oily but thats the only noticeable difference. I'll continue using this but are there any tips I can do according to my diet or actions like avoid all soft drinks or drink JUST water or stuff like that. Any help is greatly appreciated

try sandpaper

Bethany .
Go to a dermatologist and get a prescription wash.

once a day splash with hot/warm water to open pores
apply an astringent (can be found anywhere a&P, cvs, etc) using a CLEAN tissue
then rinse with cool/cold water to close up cleaned pores

Loren. T
i had mild acne, go to see the doc. i did, and he prescribed me something called zineryt which really helped.

Hmm well chocolate is bad (or so they say) One of my friends goes to like a spa place and they put something on his face once a month that keeps it ffrom getting acne, its like a facial

Alice M
Well, drink lots of water,
pull your hair back into a ponytail when you sweat,
every day steam your face for about 10 minutes; then wash your face immediatly afterwards with cold water...
doing this opens your pores to clean them & when you wet your face with cold water it closes them tightly.

if you want to get rid of the actual pimple i would highly recommend this:

Bare Minerals Blemish Remover[Therapy]
it works great, the zit dries overnight.

I actually just started visiting a doctor who has been giving me facials.

I learned so much on what to do with my face, that my acne has cleared up almost dramatically!

Proactiv can work and all, but the secret to clearing up your face is too use products that are natural...and not products that burn your face.

I use a cleanser that's green tea, and I use a mudmask twice a week. I also learned that if you eat a lot of dairy, that also causes acne. So, this might sound gross to you but if you switch to soymilk, it actually helps! Soymilk really isn't bad at all! (I recommend the brand Silk...it has coffee and chocolate flavored milk as well!)

I recommend that you also get facials once in a while (I get one every two weeks). It might get expensive, but it really is worthwhile! By receiving a facial once in a while, you lessen your chance of getting acne scars on your face and having an acne-free face really does boost your confidence!

Anyways, I wish you well...and I hope this helps! Feel free to contact me again if you have any questions! :)

Use a gentle soap and don't use a wash cloth. (stimulates oily secretions)
Watch what you eat. Chocolate doesn't cause acne but the oil and butter in it can contribute to it. Stay away from fried, greasy foods. (should anyway. bad for your heart)
Sugar has been known to up the outbreaks, too. Don't know why but....
Hey, I've been where you are. Know it isn't easy and know it can really do a number to your self-esteem. But diet and exercise, working out any stress helped me out. Fruits and vegetables. Bigtime!
I wish you well and keep a smile on your face, no matter what. It's the greatest beauty aid there is....inside and out.

If you feel that you would want products along with dieting, and exercising, than heres a site that you take a quiz on how sensitive your skin is, stress level, etc. then they calculate the best system and products for you. It's neutrigena:

This also is a good site for acne products:

The Thinker
You are already keeping your face from being oily externally, so I would try to limit the amount of junk food & greasy food. Try to eat as many natural foods as possible, and don't stress about it; it probably won't be a issue forever. Good luck.

Try this acne routine. Link in the source.

no stress
no soft drinks
dont touch your face!!
if proactiv doesnt work try skin i.d

get a facial! they work wonders!!!

panoxyl is a great cream to clear up acne. but use moisteriser after using it as it does dry out your skin, also, cut out the chocolate and eat fruit and veg and cut out nuts

Hi: When I was young I had sever cystic acne and it bothered me a great deal. I will start by saying you will grow out of it eventually. I took what I recall as Acustatin. I think that was the name. There are some bad psychological side effects however. It did clear my skin up however. It was a god send. I am still careful though with my skin. I wash with antibacterial soap and I use water based skin lotion. Not oil based. Read the labels before using. Usually the ingredient list will start with water if it is water based. I never touch my face with my hands to avoid adding dirt and grime to my skin. It blocks the pores. I use a wash cloth only once and then I put it in the wash. Wet cloths are a breeding ground for bacteria. I clean my skin several times per day. If you are a female I would suggest seeing someone about what make up is best to use when you have acne. Some are more problematic than others. I hope you find this a little helpfull. I wish you luck and encouragement. Mark

When I had acne I used Pangel 10% , it's a cream you put on your face and it works a treat. I live in Belgium which is where I got the cream from so I'm not sure if it's available in your country, but if it is I would definately suggest you try it out.

Go see a dermatologist. My mom took me and he prescribed a topical medication, and my acne was nearly gone in a couple weeks. Most diet changes that people think will help acne result in minimal changes, at best. Trust me, you don't want to live with acne scars for the rest of your life.

Diet change can help but if you experiment with different acne washes you can find the one that works best with your skin type and acne. I would suggest using neutrogena or clean and clear products. There is a website that your can order the type of acne wash thats for your skin type and stress level it is, http://www.skinid.com/econsumer/clearskin/index.view I hope this helps you because i also have been battling acne and i know how hard it is trying all different acne products.

first off food doesnt negatively affect your skin..i go to the dermatologist

i took a pill they gave me and it made my skin worse

so i use proactive and love it!

or neutrogena where you fill out your info and it chooses 3 products for you

water will make your skin more likely to look puffy and hold in the redness

salmon and olive oil in your diet is helathy and helps your skin

good luck

I use noxzema cleansing pads every other day and I put on aqua velva sport on my face every morning .

I've been using them sing 2004 and haven't had any breakouts unless I went a week or 2 with out using them.

a good idea is to stay away from chips. i have pretty bad acne and i cut back on eating chips and it got alot better. good luck.

Twilight Lover!
I used to use Proactive too, but it was too harsh on my skin, so I just use regular skin toner from Burt's Bees and I sometimes use creams from zia (whenever I actually remember to) Make sure you wear sunscreen during the day! :) Good luck!

Avoid soft drinks, try Dove soap, Clinique Acne items work really well. Also, junk foods in generally like Doritos and such. Make sure you wash your face when you wake up and especially before you go to bed!

If you have extra time......

you can try some home remedies:
[[there's ALOTTT]]

all you gotta do is put some lemon in water and heat the water for about 40 seconds then drink it everyday.

- Add more fruits, veggies, seeds and nuts to your regular diet. (Note that deficiencies if selenium and zinc, found in Brazil nuts and pumpkin seeds, have been associated with acne.) So add salads, dried fruit and nut snacks, juices and other healthy treats to your daily planning

Get plenty of fresh air and sunshine for vitamin D, ingredients for healthy skin. Not only will your skin appreciate the vitamin D, your body and mind will enjoy the oxygen and stress reducer of a daily jaunt outdoors. Remember to use sun protection / tanning lotions if you'll be out long.

wet a rag and put salt on it make sure the water is hot put it on there for 15 minutes

apply ice to your face regularly it closes the pores so that would definitely reduce the acne breakout

Blend dry oatmeal. Add water until thickened. Apply a tablespoon or two of honey in the container, the mix. The honey will make the oatmeal sticky, making it easier for it to stick to your face. Apply some cooked oatmeal to the face for 15 minutes and wash off. Oatmeal is an astringent, which can help draw impurities out of the skin. It usually takes a week or two for results to be seen.
Grind orange peel with some water to a paste and apply on affected parts. One of the best acne home remedies.

You buy white Elmer's school glue. You put a coating on your face and let it dry. When you peel it off, the white heads and black heads will be in the dried glue you peeled off.
put a drop of honey on it at night and cover with a band-aid.

i use 100% real honey with lime juice as a face mask. You can feel the difference after you take it off. but you leave it on for more than 30 min if you can go like an hour or more GREAT!

Get a bowl and mix toothpaste, rubbing alcohol and lemon.
Put it on your face twice a day, once before you go to bed and once when you wake up It works good!

Lemons. Open the pores with a hot shower. Then pour the juice on the outbreaks.Leave it for 15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.

Ok boil a pot of water. Pull your hair back and get a towel. put the towel over your hair and stick your face down OVER the steaming water! Then have a big bowel or something full of ice water! Dunk your whole face in it immediately after you steam it the next morning you will see a dramatic difference!

Before going to bed mix a crushed advil and mix it with a bit of water to create a paste. Put it on the areas that you're concerned about over night.

Go Ask Clinc Doctor For Help

keep you face nice and clean, and use creams that apply to you, for you type of skin

I tried the proactive and lemon juice and water diets all the jazz, but nothing worked as well as the dermatologist. I know it's a pain in the butt to go through with it, but trust me, it makes a difference. My skin is flawless now. If you're serious about getting clear, I'd suggest making an appointment.
