My face is a mess of acne?
I have oily skin in some places and dry spots in others. I have black heads on my cheeks and nose. My face is red and sometimes itchy. I have tried many products including acnefree, head and shoulders shampoo, natures cure, witch hazel, biore, clear pore, neutrogena advanced solutions, clearasil, a homemade face mask with honey, nutmeg, cinnamon, and lemon, clean and clear, oxy and olay. My mom says proactiv is to expensive and acnefree burns my face and sensitive skin products dont work at all. I have told my mom to take me to the dermatologist she keeps saying she will and keeps putting it off. What more can I do?

remember me?
My niece got hers to clear up by going to a tanning bed!!

Homeboy 4rom da block
Get the "clearskin" lotion

Drink lots of water and eat healthy. I mean lay off the junk food, eat vegetables, fruits. But also take into consideration if you are a teenager, puberty will do that to you. So take it easy everything will be ok. Everybody goes through it. Tell your mom that those products are cheap and aren't working. TEll her if she invests in Proactive then it will help and lasts longer than other products. good luck!!!

If your mom keeps putting off taking you to the dermatologist just firmly state to her you need to see one now. If she says next day then wait by the phone next day and pick up the phone and hold in your hand and say are you going to call? Wright notes on her desk or calender in red ink saying you need to see the dermatologist. Just be a little more aggressive and follow her to the phone telling her nows the time to call!. Don't be rude or obnoxius about it just try to get her to listen. In the mean time NEVER POP PIMPLES! They spread the infection create scars and lead to boils. Also in the mean time wash your face frequently and avoid touching your face with your hands.

Don't worry it happens to a lot of people in the world, and something you should do is not eat geesy things, for ex. chocolate, hamburgers, fried things. Also waer your hair up, because the grees of your hair irritates your face and makes you get acne, and try not to get hair products near your face.

I hope this helps you, and don't just do it for a day, try to get
used to do that.

You'll probably think I'm crazy, but get some of the heavy duty antibacterial soap they use in hospitals. Just use a little and wash your face with it. It works. I use soap called Provon. They gave it to me when I got my ear pierced to clean the piercing but it honestly works wonders on the face. :-D

Get a part time job and pay for proactiv or better still, laser treatment yourself. It seems your mom is hoping your going to grow out of it, before she has to pay for treatment.

Dear, I know how you feel. I've had acne since 4th grade. Sometimes what you put on your skin, won't help out that much. You'd be surprised, but if you stop using these detergent-like scrubs and harsh drying chemicals, your skin will start to correct it's pH balance. Drink LOTS and LOTS of water and eat as many raw vegetables as possible. Try to steer clear of saturated fats like red meats, chicken, and dairy. I don't know if you like tuna, but it's really good if you want to cut down on your sat fats. Any type of fish is a really good replacement for protein meat. Hope this helps!

Keep asking your mom to take you to the dermatologist, It's the safest, since you tried all those products.

gigi_the_girl_anachronism
Don't do the tanning thing!! First startdrinking tons of water. Then wash your face with an acne cleanser, (make sure it says its gentel, you might even have to pay a little more). Buy some benzoyl peroxide( by clean and clear) and since this might dry your face a little you want to moisturize. Even if your skin is oily you still have to( just don't put tons on. A good one is Clinique dramtically different gel lotion. Make sure it the gel kind. Make sure wear spf too. And like everybody else said go to a doctor, b/c it could not be acne but something else, and since you're treating as acne you're just making it worse. And here's some more tips: sleep on your back, keep your hands off your face, adn drink lots of water to flush away the toxins. Hope this helps a little =)

raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar
heat a qt of water, add 3 tblspns vinegar, make a tent over the pot, cover your head with a towel, steam your face. then dab some vinegar on your skin to clean, do this process 2 more times, then squeeze the blackheads. mix 1/2 water, 1/2 vinegar, chilled, dab on face to close pores and tone skin....
as a skin care routine,
raw unpasturized apple cider vinegar..
Angelina O, has found that applying ACV topically to her face several times a day (4 or more times) has cured her of a "very bad complexion". She reports that she applies it straight and that while it burns her skin a bit, it still works like a miracle!
Cheryl writes, "My daughter developed a case of moderate acne, and after trying a number of different things for over a year which helped very little or not at all, she started drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar three times a day and applying it topically once at night. She has been acne free for two months. It took about three weeks to clear up."

to drink it, put it in honey and water, or apple juice--tastes like cider..cost is 5 dollars a qt at the healthfood store

Did you try STrydex? That works very well for acne.

Stumped
I know what you are going through. Some birth control pills can help with acne but I have been using Proactiv and it has helped me out a lot. It will dry your face out a little but once you use it more and more, you will feel and see the difference.

Certain contraceptive pills help in reducing acne so you could go and see your doctor and discuss this option maybe.

Stay on your mom to take you to a dermatologist. They can do a lot for you.

Definitely keep emphasising to your mom that you really do need to go to a dermatologist. If she keeps putting it off, is there another way you could go? Are you able to go alone, or is there another adult that could take you? I spent my teen years begging and begging my mom to take me too, and she never did. Finally a general practitioner prescribed me some birth control pills (just to help with acne--they told me it was a hormonal imbalance that caused the acne) and they worked wonders.
I too have tried an even longer list of products and remedies, including useless antibiotic pills (prescribed to "help" acne). Have you told your mom that the combined cost of everything you've tried (and because nothing works, it just sits on your shelf, going to waste) is a lot more than a steady supply of proactiv (which might actually work)?
Hope some of these suggestions really do help you. I think sometimes, moms overlook the physical flaws on their children out of "motherly love." She just may not realise how much your acne problem hurts you (emotionally and even physically). Maybe try to communicate this to her--tell her how its negatively affecting many areas in your life.

Some people are claiming that acne is caused by too much bacteria/dirt on the skin, so you should wash more frequently, use hot water, anitbacterial soap, etc. This is actually a myth--over-washing will just cause your oil glands to go into overdrive.
Also, the tanning bed "solution" is ludacris, as many other users have noted. Why damage your skin to make it "healthier"? Doesn't make any sense.
3rd piece of inaccurate advice: eating greasy/sugary foods do NOT cause/influence acne. That is a myth that has long since been disproven. It's always good to drink a lot of water, though.
Good luck and please don't buy into all the myths. I truely hope you find your unique solution.
