That would be hard because smoking releases feel good endorphins into your bloodstream.

I LOVE NOT SMOKING!! I smoked for years- and had bronchitis constantly! I quit when my son was born and hated it at first- now I love it. I can't stand to smell stale cig smoke anymore... I try to not even go where smoking is because the smell makes me sick now. My husband still smokes- but not in the house.

I stopped smoking ciggies and other stuff 6 years ago when my wife was due her our first child.......Am I any happier? No, am I fatter?...Yes, do I still have cravings? Yes.....would I still smoke if I could.....NOT IN A MILLION YEARS..its stinks, its disgusting, It costs a load of money and it is bloody awful for your health and those around you.

It's not easy to stop and as I say, six years on and I still have a craving, probably once a day but its not so bad i feel desperate like you do at first. I think the biggest hurdle was the 3 day mark, when I was past 1 week I was chuffed, then when it got to 3 weeks I knew I had beaten the habit. Oh i was smoking 40 a day and just stopped, didn't cut down, didn't use nicotine replacement nada, nothing.

I have now not smoked for 4 weeks and I this time I feel like I have really done it and given up after a few half hearted attempts.

The difference is that this time I really WANT to, rather than just feeling that I should.

Like you I tried to stop before, but because I enjoyed smoking so much the thought of not smoking just didn't sound like fun, so I would have the odd one or two on special occasions, or just smoke when I was out with friends, and pretty soon I was smoking full time again.

However, this time I just don't really fancy them anymore. I am quite happy with the thought that I will never smoke again.

As I said, I think to quit successfully, you have got to get to a time in your life when you really want it.

I gave up about 27 years ago and have never regretted it. It is one of the best things I ever did. Yes, it was extremely difficult at the time but the rewards are more than worth it a million times. Am I happy? Oh yeeeeeeeeeeessss!

God I hope so. This is how I feel. I can't imagine stopping and not missing it! Going to buy Allen Carrs book and really try to beat this... hope you manage to do the same, think of all the spare money!!

I loved to smoke, and it was the hardest thing I ever did, and I still miss it occasionally, but not having that monkey on your back is worth it, also when your told you have cancer it is a great quit smoking deterrent.

I smoked for eleven years before I quit in 1994. I'm very glad that I did. Think of all the money I would have spent on smokes!

VeeBee
One of the top five best things I have ever done in life.

I work in Law Enforcement in the Central Jersey area, On 9/11 Iwas home sick with another chest cold from smoking and couldn't go.
I stopped smoking then and now should the need arise , i will be able to respond.
If someone can stop smoking on the Worst day of terrosism we knew you can too.

well congrats i quit 6 months ago and i feel great well it was hard i quit cold turkey my husband still smokes and that made it a little hard but I'm still doing well i think the first 3 months i really wanted a cigg but i kept chewing gum and eating the hard mint candy i think what made me decide to quit was when id wake up in the middle of night tring to catch my breath and that's when i knew it was time to quit so in the process of quitting smoking i thought about waking up and tring to catch my breath so needless to say i can breath alot better and i dont feel tired like i did when i smoked well best of luck to you

I stopped smoking over 3 years ago and have never felt better, in my heath and my pocket, and now i cant stand the smell of it. I can smell it strongly on peoples clothes, and thinking that is how i used to smell is enough of a deterrent to never smoke again

I gave up 37 years ago and have never regretted it. The thing to be happy about is that you are no longer at as much risk of serious diseases.
