What's wrong with me?
Recently, I am experiencing severe chest pains, causing me sleepless nights. I have asthma and have been taking my Salbutamol inhaler constantly. I can't rely on that all the time but I feel like crap. What's wrong with me?

LUNG CANCER,

sunflare63
Its the change of weather scenery.
Lots of folks get this, but u got to handle it quick.
Get some Vicks rub for the chest pains, keep moisture in your room at night-boil some steam.
Saline your nasal passages, gargle with warm salt and take
enchineachea herbal formula or that new airborn stuff that is out.
Nothing is wrong with u, u just a human being like everyone else.
Cheer up and think well and u will get well.

big dolly
go to see a doctor it sounds like u need a steroid.
this can be given in tablet or inhaler form my son has asthma and i find the tablet form quicker, make sure u wean of them because stopping straight away will not do any good and the pain will come back. good luck

go see your doctor, that sounds serious.

FIRSTLY, YOU NEED A PROPER ONE ON ONE CONSULTATION WITH A DOCTOR BECAUSE WITHOUT FURTHER INFORMATION, I COULDN'T MAKE A DIAGNOSIS WITH WHAT YOU'VE PROVIDED.

WHAT I CAN ADVISE YOU ON IS THIS; THOUGH YOUR SALBUTAMOL INHALER WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER VERY QUICKLY, YOU DON'T WANT TO BE AT A POINT WHERE YOU NEED TO USE IT. THIS IS AVOIDED BY USING THE STEROID INHALER THAT IS USUALLY PROVIDED ALONGSIDE THE SALBUTAMOL INHALER. TAKEN REGULARLY, THE STEROID INHALER PREVENTS YOUR ASTHMA DETERIORATING TO THE POINT THAT YOU NEED TO USE YOUR SALBUTAMOL INHALER ON A FREQUENT BASIS.

IT IS ALSO KNOWN THAT ASTHMA HAS 'DIURNAL VARIATION'. THAT IS TO SAY THAT IT VARIES DURING A 24 HOUR PERIOD, WORSENING AT NIGHT TIME. AS SUCH, THE PAIN YOU ARE EXPERIENCING COULD BE SEVERAL THINGS. FIRSTLY, IT COULD BE RELATED TO YOUR ASTHMA. SECONDLY, IF IT IS WORSE WHEN BREATHING IN, THEN IT IS 'PLEURITIC' CHEST PAIN AND SUGGESTS SEVERAL THINGS INCLUDING A SEVERE INFECTION OR A BLOOD CLOT ON THE LUNG. THE THIRD POSIBILITY (WHICH IS POSSIBLE IF YOU ARE OLDER) IS THAT THE CHEST PAIN IS CARDIAC RATHER THAN RESPIRATORY IN NATURE, AND IF IT IS WORSE ON LYING DOWN, OR YOU BECOME MORE SHORT OF BREATH ON LYING FLAT, THIS IS MORE SUGGECTIVE OF THE CAUSE ORIGINATING IN THE HEART.

IN SHORT, THE CAUSE OF YOUR PAIN COULD BE ONE OF MANY THINGS RANGING FROM YOUR ASTHMA GETTING SLIGHTLY OUT OF CONTROL, TO A PROBLEM WITH YOUR HEART. THE BEST ADVICE IS TO CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR.

I have suffered from severe asthma since I was young. For the first time (the last year or so), it has been under control. The 'miracle' drug my doctor prescribed is called Advair. It is a preventative medicine, unlike rescue inhalers, and comes in various strengths and is the ONLY medicine that has ever been truly effective for me. I definitely think that you should see your doctor asap and stop using more Salbutamol than prescribed (it can be dangerous at hight doses). Mention Advair to your doctor when you see him/her and see if he thinks that it would be a good choice for you. I hope you feel better soon!

Cold Bird
You should see your doctor about it!

star_janyie
I'm asthmatic and i have found that sometimes i also have to use my inhaler loads, but usually it means that i have a chest infection or something. go to your doctor and get it checked.
hope your better soon, i no how horrible it can be!!

Definately go to the doctor. You may have an infection, sometimes you can't tell. There is probably another medication to use for your asthma symptoms that will work way better.

It sounds as though your asthma isn't being properly controlled. You need to make an appointment with your asthma nurse or GP for a review. Taking alot of Salbutamol will raise your pulse which may give you the feeling of chest pain, some people also describe a tight chest as chest pain. The other reason could be strained muscles if you have been struggling to breathe for a while. Make sure you go for your review asap to avoid a severe attack. xxx

Cmon hun go see the doctor you may need a course of steriods or and antiboitics dont leave it to long you dont want to be ill over xmas

Go see your doctor. You should have a steroid inhaler too this makes your Salbutamol work quicker. Both my sons are Asthmatic, you should really go see your doctor, this time of year the air is damp and it dont help matters much.

Tora
I'm not a doctor, so I really can't say. I do suggest that you see a doctor or specialist about this as soon as you can.

rftdwg
Over using your inhaler can cause a increase in pulse especially if it is Ventolin/sabutamol, An increase in heart rate may give you the feeling of chest pains. You could try using multiple pillows or raise the head of your bed to make breathing easier. It helps open the air way. If it continues see your doctor. If they are so sever that it feels like someone is standing on your chest you should seek medical advice immediately.
