umm, well it's pretty simple really. You just don't smoke anymore. I don't get why this is so hard. Yes you'll get cravings, but you're a human being, not animal, you control what you do. Instead of sitting around thinking about smoking, keep yourself busy, then after a week or so the cravings will have gone and you'll start getting your stamina back.

in order to quit smoking you have to want to.

i just quit smoking for my new years resolution so you are not alone.
i find the best possible way is to set a date...and stick by it. ensure all of your friends and family are aware of this date. keep away from the thoughts of "when can i have my next smoke". you should also start cutting back.. dont have the morning smoke sometimes..dont smoke after you eat.. change up your habits basically. the day you have decided to quit have lots of candy.. someone to complain to.. and stay away from your normal routines. hit the gym more often to build your stamina.. it also makes you feel better and not want to have a ciggarette.. and don;t ever think it will be easy because it is not. you have to be ready or it wont work. hope i can help:)

Use will power. Just say I am going to completely stop smoking, no exceptions. If you do it over time, it won't work. Strong will power is the key.

Yes you will get your stamina back but over a time after you have stopped smoking.

I quit cold turkey after 13 years, just keep busy..... the craving will only last a few minutes. When you crave one do something else to get your mind off of it. Do not hang around smokers! If your friends or family smoke leave the area.

STOP COLD TURKEY! Try taking Chantix. its a quitting med. or just chew bubblegum when you feel the urge to smoke.

you have to first target the reason why you smoked in the first place..and then be comited to stopping....that could even mean to stop hanging out with people that do smoke because then it will be easier to stop

I started smoking when I was 13 and I gave up when I was 29. I just stopped. No cutting down, no I'll start Monday, no i'll just finish this pack. Make a decision to stop right now! If you have smokes left then keep them. Put them away in a drawer. I still have a pack with 4 in it from when I stopped nearly 4 years ago! good luck x

Ween yourself off is the best. Cold turkey will just drive you back to smoking, because it will drive you crazy so fast, you'll want one, and you're hooked again. Just start off with a number, and work your way down each week until you hit zero.

I have chronic bronchitis. I've never smoked and did not grow up with smokers but sometimes I am very limited in what I can do because of my breathing.

First you have to stop smoking. Contact your doctor for help with this. Anti-depressant/ Anti-anxiety medications such as Wellbutrin have been given to smokers to help them quit and have shown to be successful. You probably can't quit cold turkey because of the addiction to nicotine. You can try a product called Smoking Made Simple. It looks like a cigarette but it is plastic and runs on batteries. It contains a nicotine cartridge but you don't get the other toxins as you would with regular cigarettes. It also has a step down program that will help you wean yourself off of nicotine all together. It might be a little costly for a 14 year old though.

Next you have to strengthen your lungs with aerobic and cardiovascular exercise. Running and swimming are great choices. Start off slow so you don't over do it and work your way up in how much you can do. Eventually if you take care of yourself and strengthen your respiratory system you'll start seeing a difference in stamina.
