My throat feels funny, like I'm about to get a cough/cold. But im not! Dnt think so anyway! I feel like I have
to keep coughing to clear my throat. I gave up smoking for good about two days ago. For good this time! I'm 19. Should I be worried??

well that is normal after quitting smoking, it should clear up in a week or so, your body has to expell all the toxins...

Congratulations for giving up smoking. Your body may be adjusting and that nicotine is very addicting so its mind over matter for a week or two to get that out of your system. In the meantime you may have some bacteria growing. Mix a couple of ounces of honey with a couple of ounces of apple cider vinegar together and take a teaspoon at a time 3-4 times per day. That will kill the bacteria. It tastes terrible but know that it is doing good and it can be an acquired taste. I have used it for decades to cure sore throat and it works well.

MEPHISTOPHELES
There is some sort of infection circulating - I have it too - symptoms are sore throat and a barking. hacking dry cough. Go to chemist buy yourself some 'Pholcodeine' - it works

No, all that's happening is your sinuses are draining down the back of your throat. Mine does it all of the time.Sometimes it will make you cough or have a sore throat.

Congratulations! Stick with it. I quit 23 years ago after smoking 33 years(started at 6). The throat condition will slowly disappear over the next couple of weeks, and you will have a few other slight new feelings come back too. Like a better sense of smell and taste. If you do happen to have a sniffle coming on, the gargeling with salt water will help, but make it sea salt. That has all the minerals in it your body needs. Another thing that helps a cold is drinking a hot mint tea, known as lemon balm. Peppermint is good, but lemon balm is anti viral and anti bacterial and will actually help your system get back on track after smoking.
Again, congrats on the cig dumping and keep it up:)

I had the same thing. Worked for a Dr. had it checked out. Your sinus can drain down the back of your throat. Causes you to caugh and feel scratchy. Even if your nose feels clear. If you try an allergie pill I bet it will improve. Try sudafed even the generic works well "the little red pill" Good luck>

A funny feeling in my throat that I felt I needed to cough to clear was the first sign I was going into Anaphylactic Shock. This lasted about an hour then Boom, my throat closed up on me and I passed out.
I only share this with you because if you dont know it's coming or it has never happened to you before you would have no idea this is a possibility.
It may be just a simple soar throat from light drainage.

Since you stopped smoking the little hair cells in your airways have come back to life, gradually wafting all of that horrible mucous out of your lungs. Generally this will just 'roll over' straight into your gullet and you will swallow it without knowing, but you will sometimes have a mucousy feeling in the back of the throat andhave to cough. This is the first sign that your lungs are getting back to normal. Rejoice, and keep it up!
