How long does it take to get nicotine out of your system?
I've supposed to quit smoking for months, due to an up-coming operation, can anyone tell me how long it takes the nicotine to get out of my system, or anyway to get it out quickly, besides not smoking...it's very imperative I get this out of my system as quickly as possible, even if I have withdrawals..anyone have any idea, how long, or anything to get it where it won't show up in my system, thanks..

You shouldn't have been smoking.

one month

it takes a long long time

The only way I know of is to quit smoking. You can try one of the drug "detoxifiers" you get from the herbal stores - that might do the trick.

Hope your operation goes well!

Nicotine can stay in your system for many days, the effects and harm that it causes can take many years to leave your system. Traditional medicine reports often vary from what has been discovered in holistic practises.

A colleague of mine does infrared sauna treatments for around $20 and this is a remarkable non evasive way to cleanse your system.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=infrared+saunas&sourceid=mozilla-search

I do however know that doing a detox will help speed up that process.

I am not a medical doctor and do not want to stir you in the wrong direction , but cleansing and detox does amazing things for people who are dealing with illness or simply looking to remove toxins from all sources from their body.

A cleanse that I have used and is well documents is the Master Cleanse by James Burrows you can find it on line or at many health and nutrition stores it is a small yellow paper back and retails for around $10 dollars.

Good luck with your surgery.

When I quit smoking it took about a week for the severe withdrawls to stop and it was alot better by two weeks. I smoked for 20 years and stopped without any assistance. I have been smoke free for 5 years this month. Stop now, eat a healthy diet and drink lots of water to cleanse your system. From my own experience I would say one - two weeks. If you have really bad cravings try Ice Breakers cool mints.

i never really thought about that. the tar that's in your lungs doesn't just go away though. i'm sure they'll be able to tell you've been smoking when they operate

(not a fact, but was told by a doctor for cig. smoker)

I've heard 3 days.
Those will be the hardest 3 days though.

Good Luck

I think its down to how long and how much you have been smoking. I was told that total recovery may take years...

i dont smoke but i heard it on the radio it only takes 3days to get the nicotine out your systme hope that has helped!

i am
48 hours

Hmmm... be interested to hear answers to this.... I was always told (quit smoking 23 years ago after 20 years of a pack-a-day habit) that the nicotine did not last long, hence the craving for more in just a few hours.... and that lungs begin to clear rapidly... but that first 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

after you stop smoking, it takes 3 days, i think.

"Nicotine may be detected long after its effects on the body have resolved. The physiologic effect of nicotine is gone in 14 - 48 hours. The breakdown product from nicotine (cotinine) may be detected in the urine for about seven days. Nicotine can also be extracted from hair for as long as several months. The physiological readjustment begins after the body detoxifies from nicotine, with the powerful conditioning effects persisting neurologically for quite some time. "

30 seconds at the maximum to get in your system and depending how many years you have smoked e.g Chronic smoker for more than 20 years will take about 10 years to refresh your system.
