A stabbing pain? Dull pain? It could be a number of things... or, just a random pain! Might as well see the doc if it's really bothering you. |

Do you have trouble breathing? May be a cracked or bruised rib. |

Considering we don't know where the pain is exactly, your prior health conditions, and aren't physically able to examine you I'd say ask a doctor. K thanks |

you may have slept on your side all night or it could be that you're working out too hard... or it could also mean that it's just time to get a new bed. i have that too, sometimes... the pain will usually just go away. if it keeps up, see your doc and/or buy a good bed. |

Anytime unusual pain errupts there may be no need to head for the Drs however, if your pain persists, or lasts several hours or more and is limiting your mobility call your Dr asap.... |

I recently knew someone who had this problem. I believe it was diagnosed as Costochondritis. It is a swelling of the muscles around the rib and could have been caused by overexerting a muscle or irritation of the affected area. It is treated with an anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprophen and subsides after a few days. Here is a link to a website describing the problem:

Could be anything. No way to diagnose from here with what you've given us. Could be a muscle cramp from sleeping funny. you might have cracked a rib. Could be cancer, or anything in between. If it bothers you for more than a few days see a doctor. |

Since where I am at "woke up this morning" is 12 hours ago, and you are posting an hour or so ago according to my computer... does this mean you are still having "awful" pain on the right side of your "ribs".... If yes, on a scale based on 1 the least and 10 the worst pain you have ever had how much pain do you have?
Exactly where is the pain, at the bottom of the rib cage? middle of ribs..in the bony area? or below in the softer part at bottom of rib cage. Does it hurt to breathe in deep? Does it hurt to press on the area with the palm of you hand? have you eaten? did it make it feel better or worse...???
Have you taken any pain medication did it help?? any other symptoms since you have been up and about.?
If you still are miserable, email me or go to an ER if it is AWFUL. There are so many things you could have going on all pretty much fixable..... |
