Stranger In Paradise
I've been having intense pain at the back of my thighs and it extends till the bottom of my calves each time
At first I thought it was a muscle cramp or a hamstring pull or something. But the thing is, I don't exercise at all, I didn't exert myself in any way. This intense pain has been coming and going every few hours and it's not going for a few days. What could it be? Is it lack of potassium or the beginning of a chronic disease? Could it be linked to athrithis? I know no one will have fixed answers for this but someone who's experienced similar pain, please help? It's only in my left leg, the other leg's not affected. Pls help.

It definitely sounds like a bulging disc or herniated disc that is pinching a nerve that goes down your leg, this pain is known as sciatica. I've been all through this and ended up with back surgery to correct it. It's all good now, I had surgery in 2002. You'll need to get a doctor (neurosurgeon) to do an MRI so he can see the discs (an xray only shows bone). Have you been in an accident in the last few years? Did you hurt your back a while back lifting something really heavy? Sometimes the disc only gets inflamed and bulges causing the pain and then when the swelling goes down the pain goes away, only to come back when you do too much with your back again. Sometimes it's actually herniated (blown) and will only get worse and worse as time goes on. You'll need to be careful with what you do from here on! Good luck!

well sweety i think ur problem is some knowns as sciatica.
ur sciatic nerve is hurt and u have to go to the doctor. the pain is not because of ur leg or calf but because of ur back bone. and u have to use some cream for ur back.
ur back will not hurt but the nerve starts from there and where the nerve ends in the leg and calf the pain starts and u feel it.

sciatica... it is a nerve in your lower back but can cause pain in your legs.. have you tried taking nsaids ? meds like aspirin or aleve.. nerve pain is extremely painful... if it was something like arthritis you would only feel pain in your joints.. like your hips or knees...not all the way down your leg... plus the chances of getting arthritis on only one side and hip and knee at the same time is slim...

It could stem from back issues. My husband had a pain similar to that, that would penetrate down his leg. He had a disc problem. He had back surgery not that you will and that is even the problem. However you might want to go get it checked out.
