I know I've already posted this, but I'm desperate.

My upper back (between my shoulder blades all the way to my mid back) is spasming. It's really painful, and I can't even sit up to study for a few big tests I have tomorrow. It hurts so badly that it's making me nauseous. I have an Icy-Hot patch over the area that hurts, but it's not helping at all. I've taken Advil already as well.Also, I know I don't need to pop it. I'm not getting old, because I'm only 15. I haven't done anything weird to it and I haven't fallen on it. It's like a pain in the bone, not the muscles.

Could this be related to stress and/or lack of sleep? Please help me. What can I do about this pain to make it better?

Have you been checked for gall bladder/ gall stones? These are VERY painful. I would suggest if the pain is this bad, you go to ur PHYSICIAN! Hope this helped. Take care!

This could be several things. Large breast, stress, bad posture, sitting at the computer with your head in a down position, sleeping wrong. Go to your nearest chiropractors office and ask to purchase some 'Bio Freeze'. You do not need a prescription. This stuff works amazing. Do not use heat on it if you have a headache, use an ice pack. When using either heat or ice, do not accede 15 min. at a time. You may reapply with a little time in between. You may need to see a chiropractor, or get a massage.

Lily it sounds bad,Ive had some pretty bad pain in my life and for what you seem to have a chiropractor might help with a tens machine,its specifically for muscle spasm's.If that don't work you really need to see a Doctor.Good luck to you.

Get into a tub of hot water as hot as you can reasonably stand it. Sometimes some Epsom salts will help. I can't give you a dosage but a cupful might be enough.
You may have muscles tightened up.

try laying flat on the floor and twisting your torso. This usually helps me. I often have back cramps because I am a Kindergarten teacher and often slump at work. You may also want to try a hot shower as hot as you can stand it.

If this is a recurring pain, you may need to be checked for scoliosis.

Take a hot shower. After you get out of the shower do some stretching exercises for at least 10 minutes. If you have someone available that can massage that area for you then do that too.

Try lying on your stomach with your arms at your side on a bed or couch. Have someone push down hard on the spot and massage it. It will work.

You probably pulled some muscles. The way to help the spasming is to gently stretch those muscles. If you suffer with this for more than another day or so, you might want to see a physical therapist. They can teach you how to releave the spasm and treat the area.

you're 15 and you are not injured?
have you been reading a lot?? maybe holding your neck and head in a bad position?

holding anything with your neck or chin a lot (phone, music instrument)??

Sitting at a keyboard with monitor at a bad height??

I am just brainstorming here thinking of possible causes.

Two poistions to recommend:
lie down on carpeted floor (or an exercise pad) on front with arms at side and try to relax everything
lie on back with feet and lower legs on a chair that is at knee height so your lower legs are supported, themn relax your back into the floor by trying to gently push your back down so it contacts the floor. That is a good relief position.

You should begin ( in a few days, after your pain fades a bit) some resistance training or weight lifting for upper body strength. Start small with light weights and try to build up a little week by week. Go slow with small increases, like 2 pounds, 5 pounds, 8 pounds etc. You don't have to use real weights, just anything that weighs that much like a book or dictionary.

If the pain lasts more than a few days you should see a doctor or health center and be examined, because there are some serious things that college age kids can catch.

Are you spending any length of time in a particular position, like sitting on the floor playing video games or leaning forward doing your homework on the floor? Try sitting at a table for your homework instead of having to lean. I used to have the same pain until I stopped playing video games.

Soak in a nice Hot Tub of Water. When you go to bed, Put heating Pad on.. > (low) Take some calcium, Like a Glass of milk or calcium Pill. I will say a Prayer for You dear.

If it feels hot, then its inflammed so if you use an ice pack then dont use it for long because this can trigger more inflammation. It may be related to your posture which cannot be fixed overnight, but if you do want a temporary release - if theres airpockets on your spine in that region, a chiropractor can give you an adjustment which can free up tension in that area.

Sounds like a combo of lack of sleep and stress..
Take a nice hot bath or shower.. water as hot as you can take comfortably..soak for about 20 mins.. stretch your neck.. clear your head ..

Maybe go to bed early get up early tomorrow and study some before school...

I imagin you already know what you need to know for the test just try to relax for a little bit, you'll feel better..
