Can you get re-occuring migraines?
I had a terrible one all day yesterday - i lost my sight & ability to speak properly - & threw up a few times as well...thought I was going to die (seriously!)
Anyway, My head is still very fragile feeling & my eyesight isn't back to 100% but is it possible I could have another migraine attack today? Or is it a case that when it is over, it's over until next time?

You can get like a hungover feeling for days after a nasty migraine. You need to watch what you eat as some foods can trigger them.Dairy produce can start a migraine with some people, or wheat produce. If you get a bad one again, try and recall what you've eaten.A chat with your doctor would be a good idea too.

You didn`t write how often do you have migranes and what do you think was the reason of your big migrain!?
So it`s hard to answer if it is re-occuring migrain in your case...
I am sure, it can be a scary experience to feel a pain leading to loosing eyesight!
I would advice you to get to check up to GP, just make sure it is not anything serious! I know, it`s up to you, but health is really important!!!Don`t delate!

You probably need a few changes in your lifestyle...you`ll need to try avoid the situations which are causing you the migraines or try them to manage in time before they move you to the state as you described...to feel to "going to die"................
Perfect for you would be learn some yoga breathing exercises........
Try to keep up healthy balanced diet - important to give your body enough vitamins and minerals to supply "brainfood" by eating more beans, nuts, bananas, fish ...........
Drink enough water! Avoid alcohol!..........
Don`t forget to learn relax + have enough rest and night sleep too!
To get back healthy balance in your body, soul and mind also try reflexology treatments (at least 3-4 times in first month). You`ll feel a big difference!
All the best!Get well soon!

My co-worker and my mum both get bad migraines and the question of reoccurring is yes you can get them.

She doesn't get them daily or in any sort of pattern - I guess it is just as you sa y'over until next time' - unfortunately.

Maybe look at this site for some more information:

Hope it helps :)

They are usually over till the next time. My daughter gets them on a regular basis (round the time of the month) but has learned to identify the warning signs and takes appropriate medication which seems to work. Hope this helps.

My friend suffers terribly with migraines almost daily. nothing seems to help and i admire her for being able to cope with it!

my partner suffers from something called Cluster Migraines. basically that means that the migraines are re-occurring, and he tends to get 2 or 3 in one day if he's unlucky. and yes, it effects his eyesight too.... maybe u should get it checked out by your doctor ? there might be medication they can give u to limit these attacks and symptoms. also, please be careful if u have to drive anywhere.........

its very common. But, if it is not normal for you then it likely wont reoccur. I suffered with 4-5 migraines per week. I now have maybe one..... my auntie has trouble with employment because she suffers such severe debilitating migraines, on a regular basis...

always drink lots of water and have cups of tea... that helps most people

Yes. It is a recurrent throbbing headache that characteristically affects one side of the head. It is possibly caused by contractions and then dilation of the arteries of the brain. There is sometimes forewarning of an attack ( an aura ) consisting of flickering bright lights or blurring of vision, which clears up as the head ache develops. The head ache is often accompanied by prostration and vomiting. There are certain drugs ( Ex. Ergotamine tartrate ) that reduces the severity of head ache and others (like : Methysergide) used to prevent attacks.

Please consult your Doctor.

There is no guarantee that you wont get another, they are often unpredictable.

If they are as severe as you describe you need to see your GP and perhaps get a migraine specific drug, there are a number of these. Also if you are getting them with any frequency you should also be considering migraine prophylaxis.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, sweet fruits, milk, rice and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.

There is a new development in migraine therapy:

oh yes, you can get re-occurig headaches. I had this awful headache yesterday and it still hasnt gone. I think it is a tension headache beause im a bit stressed with some uni work.

Try staying off the computer as you will strain your eyes. You need to just lie down, take some iboprofen or migraine tablets and let it get to work. Dont watch tv, and done do any reading, etc, etc.

If you keep getting migraine, then you need to see your GP. It doesnt sound too good that you couldnt speak. That sounds quite worrying. :(

It's possible that it could last for days. There are many different causes of migraine attacks. If you feel the tension coming on try to your medicine before the attack. It may not stop it but it could lessen the severity. I used to throw up with my migraines too. I really hope you're seeing a doctor for treatment. Most attacks are caused by a reduction of oxygen to the brain, and a presciption is needed to help lessen the number of attacks. Really hope you get to feeling better, I know just how awful it can be. And it really does feel like you're dying.

yes, most certainly, some people have it for days

I'm sure I can get re-occurring migraines but I don't want them.

You really need to go to the doctor.

Yes they can come back a day or so later, or indeed stretch over several days. Every person's migraine experience is different.

Do you not take any medication for these migraines? You can now buy Imigran (sumatriptan) over the counter, along with other migraine drugs, and you pharmacist will be happy to help. Otherwise, see your GP.

you are still getting over a very severe migraine attack if you start to get them often then see your GP there is some good meds out there to treat it i was on a tab called sumatriptan which seemed to help alot

migraines seem to run in my family i have suffered since i was 16, now 24 and still get them
