hi, im 15 and i wanna know how much sleep i really need during the night cos my mums always going on at me that i should go to bed early cos i don't get enough sleep, but i don't actually know how much i need, so if you tell me, then i can confront her!

sadly it all depends on your gentic predisposition. some people don't require much. according to science the older you get the less you need. becuase of the change in the secreation of melatonin in your body. it also depends on the quality of sleep you are getting each night.

first off don't confront mom, or dad. i know from experience as a parent that we do respond well to that. if you want us to listen talk to us person to person. as to how much sleep is needed. i went through this when my son was in his teens. i also got this from my doctor. so this is what i have been told. the human body needs about 7-9 hours sleep a day. this gives the body time to rest and heal physically and mentally and to refresh your brain. sometimes parents really do know what they are talking about. sometimes they don't. next time you go to your doctor for any reason ask him/her. follow their advise.

umm i would sleep about 6-7 hours but then again some people.......like me i only sleep 5 hours at night and then during the day i sleep 1 more hout depends on how my day or night is going!!!! also depends on how late you went to sleep!!

as much as you need to stop you goiing to sleep at school. There is no norm - people vary. Also some can go without but have a catch up binge say at the weekend staying in bed/asleep most of the day. This is quite normal at your age

i was a teenager once, many years ago. i have 2 sons in their 20's who once were in their teens, my daughter is 16. i find that teenagers don't need any sleep at all in the night, during the day they need about 12 hours.

It is definetly is individual. My mom has a colleague that believe it or not, sleeps only 4 hours and feels fine. I usually during the school year (I'm 14) get 6-7 hours and make up for it on the weekend by sleeping 10-14 hours. During the summer i get 9-10 hours unless i have camp, where i get 6-7 hours.

My mom says that your mom doesn't really care about how many hours you get, she just wants to get rid of you by sending you to bed :D (my mommy is laughing her head off and told me she was just joking)

when you study during the day, whatever you learn will register in your brain when you are sleep. no matter how much you sleep, make sure you are in deep stage of sleep at 05:00 am. this is the time when growth hormone is released fo ryour growth. you can stun your growth is you are not getting enough sleep. every person is different. usually 8 hours is enough. it really depends on you.

there's nothing to confront her about, she's right and you do need to go to bed early. That's when your growth hormones are active. You're only 15 so you need that. otherwise, you'll end up short and you won't like it.

If you are dog-tired by midday after 7 hrs sleep, you need more sleep.

It's also healthy if you grab a 30 minute-1 hour nap in the late afternoon.

Well if you stay up at night and get up around let's say 8 in the morn every day, I would say if you go to bed between 9 and 11 and youll be good

Teens actually need more sleep than adults. Mainly because of the changes in hormones and growth spurts. A minimum of 8 hours is required and some teens need up to 10 hours a night.
