at 14 sleep is important a good 8 hrs will suffice. if you over sleep it could make to lethagic for the rest of the day

no sleeping a lot is not bad. i am 13 and i sleep that much too. so u don't have anything to worry about

it depends what time of the day you decide to take your nap,
but an average teenager should get atleast 8 hours of sleep.
but then again everyone is different, some need 8 hours some need 10 maybe even some need 15 it depends on your body.

Well it all depends on your age, since your 14 it's normal sleeping so much, especially since it's summer vacation. I'm 15 years of age, and when school was going on I would go to bed at 11p.m. and wake-up at 6a.m, at my age people say that is unhealthy for your body, but I've adapted to it so whatever; I'm not that normal either. But since summer hit, I've been going to bed at 4a.m. and wake-up around 11a.m., so my hours have adapted also.

Don't worry at your age you're normal.

The amount of sleep needed for each person is different. Children under 18 usually need more sleep, up to 10 hours a night. Adults should get between 7-8 hours per night be fully rested for optimum health. If you sleep too much you will get:

Headaches that last throughout the day.

Difficulty focusing and remembering things.

You feel real slow and out of it.

Extra tired during the day.

Taking naps during the day is ok if you are tiered. But naps shouldnt be more than an hour long. 30min naps are good for you but sleeping too much is unhealthy.

There's no real "normal" amount of sleep because everyone is different. Some people need more or less than others. Doctors recommend that we get at least 7 hours of sleep a night but I personally find 8 to 9 hours is much better because most of us have to account for the time it takes to fall asleep plus all the times you get up and move around during the night. It sounds to me like you're getting the sleep you need. Our bodies are really good at telling us what we need, ie: if you're tired you sleep, if you're hungry you eat, etc. I wouldn't worry about sleeping too much unless the duration of each sleep session goes beyond 10-12 hours of sleep per night on a regular basis. Then you may have something wrong with your energy levels but at this point I think taking cat naps is perfectly normal. =)

You sleep when your body needs it. It gives your body time to regenerate and fix problems. Sleep is good, not sleeping when you are tired is not.

everyone is different when it comes to sleeping. I have friend's who only need around 6 hours sleep a night to feel fine the next day and some who need around 10 hours. It depends on you as an individual, your exercise levels, what you do during the day etc. I usually get around 6 hours of sleep a night and then take a nap after work for an hour or 2 if i am tired. When I am on holiday from work I can sleep for about 8 hours a night as I do not need to get up early and can then quite easily nap for a few more later.

If you need that amount of sleep then that is fine- but try not to nap for so long as it can really mess your sleeping routine up.

7 hours is not much sleep for overnight, but a four hour nap is excessive. But if you are way too active and busy, then it couldbe just fine.. but if not it coud be a health condition.. i have four our naps myself.. first it was because of my thyroid.. and now its because i have low iron.. so if you dont do much in a day, go see the doctor for a blood test.

I'm 9 and I sleep WAY more than you do. I used to get 7 hours of sleep during school but now, I sleep way more since it's summer and i can just relax.

i think you are sleeping to much because there are 24 hrs in a day and your sleeping for 11 hrs which leaves you 13 to 14 hrs of staying up

all i do is sleep

you can sleep for 7 hours but that's not called taking a nap if u take a nap for 4 hours that's sleeping ur only supposed to sleep for about a 1 and a half hours

No that sounds normal to me. Teenagers usually have that exact routine, but for me I'm not the kind of person who can just choose to sleep. I have to be in the mood.

Sleeping is healthy for the body especially when your a teen, so sleep away if you can. Sleep replenishes cells and can actually make a person happier. Just make sure you are focusing on the things you need to, like HW, before hitting the sheets.

teenagers need more sleep than those in their 30's or older. something about changing hormones and what not. I think this is fairly normal sleep pattern. adults should be getting 6 to 8 hours of sleep a night.

No, when you are growing up and going through your teen years you require a lot of sleep. Teens require more sleep then anyone else. It is best to get at least 10 hours of sleep a day so what you are doing is great.

nope that is a perfectly fine amount of time for a teen to sleep (you sleep a lot more when you are a teenage to help you grow)

No girl, your young.. get the sleep now while you can... once you start working and juggling school, im sure you'd love to get those few hours back.

Nope - sounds right.

Remember - at your age your body is going thru a lot of changes - it may need more sleep than some of your friends - or more sleep than you did a few years ago.

Now - are you getting some exercise? Like riding a bike around, etc. You may want to put some exercise into your routine.

Also, the extra sleep may be a sign of depression - which is normal for teenagers (why? cause you start to see the realities of life - which contradict everything you've learned in life - and you question a lot of your beliefs - which may cause depression too).

So - why don't you continue to monitor your sleep for 6 months - keep it in a log book. You can then go see a doctor and explain to him how you feel - and show him your sleep + nap time for 6 months - Doctor may be able to help.

But the truth of the matter is --> You'll be fine!!
