Ive tried eating loadsa fruit (bananas, strawberries and cherries) and muesli and yoghurt and a whole tin of prunes and stilll nothing!My skin breaking out now and Ive got a migraine....may need a colonic at this rate! Thanks for your ideas!

bran (any food with a lot of fiber), laxatives, hot bath, heating pad on your stomach, excercise. you want to get moving which in turn will get "other things" moving. Then there's always the alcohol route LOL Miller Genuine Draft always made my stomach upset when I was in college. Any cheap beer. lol

you could try all-bran which has worked for me in the past or try some fruit which should do the trick

There are many things you can do to prevent constipation. They include

* Eating more fruits, vegetables and grains, which are high in fiber, including aloe vera juice, unsweetened pineapple juice
* Drinking plenty of water and other liquids
* Getting enough exercise
* Taking time to have a bowel movement when you need to
* Using laxatives only if your doctor says you should
* Asking your doctor if medicines you take may cause constipation

It's not important that you have a bowel movement every day. If your bowel habits change, however, check with your doctor.

Certain therapeutic grade essential oils, such as peppermint, have demonstrated their ability to improve colon health by supporting intestinal flora, stimulating intestinal motility and peristalsis, fighting infections and eliminating parasites.

Digestive enzymes and cleansing products may be helpful. I like Essentialzyme and ComforTone.

a week or so backpacking round India eating the local food usually sorts this kind of problem out

Shredded wheat every day for breakfast.
Also stuff like sweetcorn is a good one as it cleans the gut out so it might reduce bouts of constipation coming back

2 pints of import guiness should do the trick.

2 litres of water, eat some tuna - then go for a 20 minute jog, then when you get back eat an apple and a banana. Get some fibre in your stomach - full fat milk with some porridge in the morning. 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. No spicy food or unhealthy foods like curries and pizza.

Bear in mind there are more things to you can do - but this is main things to do. Peace

Dates, Apricots, pumpkin seeds. Senna (natural) also a natural sugar called Lactulose - available from your pharmacy.

Loads of fruit is good - although avoid bananas. Plenty of Water - 4 litres if you're really bad - flood yourself - it'll work, trust me!

Believe it or not a good cure is going for a brisk walk. Go at a fast pace and this has a tendency to promote good movement in the colon. It sometimes works too good, such as when you are too far from home and you get the sudden urge.

What i do is soak a good fruit & nut filled muesli with added raisins in fruit juice overnight in the fridge, the fruits swell up and it also tastes great and is lovely and cool and refreshing on a hot summers day !.
I'm on strong painkillers and it helps a lot, also kidney beans help me and i eat a lot of tomatoes, olives and have oven roasted veggies in olive oil often too !.
Better than taking that awful lactulose solution, but if push comes to shove then lactulose is better than nothing !!.

every ones body responds a little differently to different remedies,I found that a couple of sticks of celery helps a lot so my guess is I need the fiber,so far that's the best thing I have found I also avoid most breads,rolls,biscuits as it makes it worse.Try different things until you find what works for you .Good luck

My God! Give it some time before you eat any more fruit, LOL. Increasing your water intake will also help as will eating anything with fiber, like an iceberg salad, or other green veggies. It's not instantaneous though, and may take up to 24 hours to get through your system. Apple & grape juice will help, too. I would also recommend very little meat and probably no cheese at this point. If you are still having trouble in the morning, I'd call the doc just to be sure.

if not, eat things that normally give you diareah (spelling?) but not too much of it!!! or fro some reason, clementines work for me......



Go see a doctor if it's been going on for a few days. If not, and you've tried all the other suggestions with no success, go see your local friendly pharmacist for some yummy over the counter stuff!

licquorice should do the trick and if you eat it in the form of bassetts liquorice allsorts they taste nice as well

A stupidly hot curry and a few beers always makes me need the khazi!

apricots, raisins...pretty much any dried fruit because fruits are made up of water, fiber and fructose (sugar) and once the water is dried out of the fruit you have fiber which is always good for digestive tract despite troubles with constipation or not and a bunch of concentrated fructose which is a natural sugar molecule that will loosen your stool.

Foods that have special recognition as laxatives include almonds, apricots (dried), avocados, chicory, coconut, dandelion (yes get out in your garden and eat those dandelion leaves, so long as they have no chemicals on them!), dates, endive, figs, flaxseed, grapes, mango's, olive, papayas, parsley, persimmons, pineapple, prunes, rhubarb, soybeans, turnips, walnuts, watercress.

hi tracey have you tried fresh apple juice?

1/2 pint in the morning and 1/2 pint at night an hour before bed is supposed to do the trick after a couple of days;-)
