Feel free to check out the sites that were referenced by other people for they should contain good information on the syndrome. MEDLINE is very accurate, I use it often ans as far as I am concerned Wikipedia contains information on everything. I must have other sites too or perhaps other stuff, I'd need to check it out again because it's been over a year and these two person don't have any symptoms anymore although they are on a special diet since then.

Crohns disease is the one that makes people look aged before their time. It usually strikes infants and small children, greatly reducing their lifespan.

Please see the webpages for more details on Crohn's disease.

Common Sense
Irritatable bowel syndrome often progresses into / becomes
Crohns's disease..
Colon becomes damaged due to continuous irritation & overstimulation...
I don't know cause...

Try this:

The main symptoms of Crohn's disease include:

Abdominal pain. The pain often is described as cramping and intermittent, and the abdomen may be sore when touched. Abdominal pain may turn to a dull, constant ache as the condition progresses.
Diarrhea. Some people may have diarrhea 10 to 20 times per day. They may wake up at night and need to go to the bathroom. Crohn's disease may cause blood in stools, but not always.
Loss of appetite.
Fever. In severe cases, fever or other symptoms that affect the entire body may develop. A high fever may mean that you have a complication involving infection, such as an abscess.
Weight loss. Ongoing symptoms, such as diarrhea, can lead to weight loss.
Too few red blood cells (anemia). Some people with Crohn's disease develop anemia because of low iron levels caused by bloody stools or the intestinal inflammation itself.

It is an inflammatory disease of the gut, that mostly affect the last part of small intestine and the distal part of large intestine, causing poor absorption of nutrients and water leading to constant diarrhoea, loss of weight, and the patient will look malnourished and flushed. It can also affect the joints making walking painful to the victims. The cause is unknown (idiopatic) and can progress to cancer of the affected part.Anti-inflammatory drugs do help to reduce the excessive inflammation.Diet-balance diet of fluid origin low in fat and oil plays important role in its management.

My best friend had this disease. I'm not sure of all the particulars, but I do know that it affects the joints (wrists, ankles, elbows, etc) by making them painful and hard to move. It also affects the bowels, and is also called 'Irritable Bowel Syndrome'. When my friend had it, she had diarrhea almost constantly. Everything she ate had this effect, and sometimes just smelling food would cause it. You can find lots more info at the link below.

I have Crohn's Disease. It is not the same as Irritated bowel syndrome. It is an autoimmune disease that can effect any section of your digestive tract, from the mouth to the colon. When the disease is active, it can be extremely horrible. You lose your appetite, lose weight, cramping at first, diarrhea or constipation - you can go from one extreme to the other, frequent urgent need of the restroom. Horrible pains, which I compare with labor, but at least with labor you knew there would be an end, with this, you just never know when it will end. Then it could go into remission; it has a mind all of its own. There are many other complications that can come about from Crohn's. I would recommend checking out the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Website:

no it is not another word for irrateable bowel syndrome.
It is an infalammatory bowel disease that can involve any part of the intestinal canal from the lips to the anus...
It also has extraintestinal manifestations like sore joints.

Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation or ulceration of the digestive tract. It can affect any part of your digestive tract, but it is most common in the last part of the small intestine and the large intestine.

Crohn's disease causes inflammation in the small intestine. Crohn's disease usually occurs in the lower part of the small intestine, called the ileum, but it can affect any part of the digestive tract, from the mouth to the anus. The inflammation extends deep into the lining of the affected organ. The inflammation can cause pain and can make the intestines empty frequently, resulting in diarrhea. .. http://www.crohns-disease.us/index.html
