Can I get my eyes tested for no cost?

i dont think so

bee bee
blame poor eyesight on your job, and get your boss to pay

Come to Scotland

You may find organizations in your area that may be able to assist you with the cost. Lions Club for starters may help if you show that there's a need. Do you attend church or any community group? Don't be ashamed to ask for help. If you were asking for a Gucci bag that would be different but if you really feel you need to see an Optometrist but don't have the means to do so, push your pride aside and seek help.
Best to you,

as daza said if you work with computers. your employers have to pay for it by law..

other than that, my mums a diabetic, she gets hers free

I paid for my eye test, but some places vastly differ, mine was £18.. other places were £30 or £20.. silly money..

depends what part of the country your in also..e.g.

england £6 perscription fee.. wales zero charge

i dont know if they still do it. but it used to be that if you tell them that glaucome runs in the family they used to do free eye tests ,, but you would have to ask...

In the US, there is a program for students in low income families called "Sight for Students" sponsored by VSP. You can get more info at www.vsp.com. They can provide vouchers for exams and glasses at no cost to you from a VSP provider that provides coverage for the program.

if you are in the uk, you can sign up for the boots health club, wait for it to come in the post and you can have a free eye test for joining.

That is what I did today!

In the UK under the NHS you can get a free sight test if you are under 16 or over 70 (or have specific medical conditions such as a family history of glaucoma).

You may be able to get your employer to pay for an eye test if you are using VDU equipment.

However the basic test is not expensive and it is not worth the risk to your health of avoiding the test to save money.

For more information see

If there's a university that trains eye doctors, they probably need victims for the students to practice on. So they could probably hook you up with a free eye exam.

Some opticians in some areas are allowed to do sight testing using an autorefractor, and the test will probably be free, especially if you buy glasses from them. This isn't a substitute for a real eye exam, though. Eye doctors check for signs of various eye diseases.

in the UK if you are over 60 no cost

some people get free eye tests. pensioners, people with complex lenses or on certain benefits. Some opticians give free tests for all. You get free tests if you live in Scotland.

In the UK if you are employment involves working in front of a computer screen or VDU (Visual Display Unit) for more than 4 hours per day, your employer is obliged to pay for 1 eye test per year. They are not however obliged to pay for any lenses or corrective treatment.

Yes!!! Ask your MUM and DAD to do it
