Do I honestly have depression? Im so confused with myself!?
I've seen my therapist twice and she made me do a depression test to see how depressed I am. Apparently I scored pretty darn high. Then I did Beck Depression Inventory today, and I scored above ...

Did anyone else have selective mutism as a child? Has it had any effect on you as an adult?

Will the stigma attached to mental health ever boil down to being as common and as unfeared as...?
the common cold or the ful virus? Or will those who suffer by no fault of their own continue to suffer in silence for fear of backlash due to their condition?

What do you think of people who become obessed with you from Y!Answers?
To the point that they follow who you pick for best answer and also follow your questions later just to give their opinon of your last question? Shouldn't stalking be banned from Y! Answers?

severely depressed people only?
Seeing that I'm severely depressed person and have not gone to the Doc in over a year... Do you think the help is out there or are we to live in pain for the rest of our days? If you are like me and say OK today I'll go see the Doc yet never do my ? I guess is why??? Why not go?

All i can say is,
You probly shouldn't take Antidepressants becuase,
Most Antidepressants in most cases have caused blood clots, and brain damage, and in some of the cases that included brain damage caused the person to commit serious crimes. (Sorry if i scarred you there)
Also some times the depression can be cuased by calcium,
wich causes Headaches , Nausea, And sometimes Diarrhea.
Even though your not eating anything with calcium or drinking it, It can be in the medications you take.

Hopefully this helped in some way.

Goodluck solving the problem. : )

I tried one med but side effects were awful so I don't know I think talking it out helps some but I don't think anything helps fully.

Do not listen to any people that warn you off antidepressants. Any side effects are not as bad as depression, particularly severe depression.

I can't imagine why anyone who was lucky enough to realize what their problem was would not go to the doctor, so I can't help you there. Yes, lucky. So many people suffer without understanding why and not knowing what to do about it.

Fear of change/the comfort of familiarity. See depression treatments, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris in section 2, and change, in section 18.

the reason I find answers entertaining is 2 one my marriage might benefit from communication if not adoptable then maybe written hear and 2 if you don't like one answer pray you dint get a disease or bugs from trying to find the right one, it only makes you ugly and hate your self. in the end!

I am bipolar and a bunch of other mental disorders. I see a therapist every other week, I see a Pshrink once every two months, and I go to group therapy once a week. I take enough drugs that I rattle when I walk. If these drugs were available in the sixties I would be a rich man today.

Seriously, you need to see your doctor and take your meds. You are in need of the help. The meds, the therapy, and all that will help you survive better. No they will not cure you. I keep hoping that someday, they will be able to take your DNA and mix a potion that will cure all your ills.

Best of luck. Try to make the right decision.

I was diagnosed with deppression 6 years ago so I know what you are going through. there is help, i am doing much better now (but not completely undepressed and yes i know that is not a word) so i do know. it is all about finding a therepist that you have a good flow with so you don't feel like your straining yourself to talk to them. you will slowly start to feel better with the proper medication and soon you will hopefully feel much better.

I've been there! I'd guess you aren't going because you are worried that they can't help you. They can! It is not a short process! But depression is hell on earth & you need to get help! It might take a while to get the right meds that work for you. Go for it! You can do it! I did!

Help is out there. It took me 10 years to go to the doctor because I was too depressed to go. It seemed overwhelming and impossible for me. I knew I'd never make the appointment on time and I figured it was pointless to try. It took a complete mental breakdown for me to finally get to a doctor. It got to the point that I was hearing voices. Scary stuff that I couldn't live with and I knew I had 2 choices: kill myself or get to a doctor. So I finally went and I'm much better now (and highly medicated).

There is definitely help out there. I'm on medical leave from school because I was trying to kill myself a few weeks ago. But now, I don't want to do that anymore...everything seems much better. I'm finally concentrating, sleeping, eating, and feeling better. The sooner you can see the doctor and get treated the better.

When I was going into depression, I put off going to the doctor. I'm a medical student, and I was too busy in my rotation. I didn't think I would relapse into depression again. So a good part of it is denial - I knew the DSM criteria for depression, and I kept on meeting more and more criteria as time went on, but I didn't think I was depressed until near the end. I'm sure another part of it is that when you're depressed, one often doesn't have the energy to do extra stuff like make an appointment with a doctor they haven't yet met.

After one is treated, its hard to see why one shouldn't go to the doctor, or why suicide should even be an option.
