swine flu?? made out 2 b worse than it is?
just curious as my sister keeps tellin me its nothing just a mild flu, is it true ? anyone know?

Yes defo, check this out:

Swine Flu they belive might get worse when flu season begains because people are more likely to catch it

They are also worried that it will evolve and becone resestent to the drugs we are using at the same time flu season comes.

So yes its possible that it can get worse but it is also true that is could just die out or not be worse then a normal flu season. Only time will tell

Handy Andy
My mum is a pharmacist and she says it is just the same as normal flu. It is highly unlikely to kill you. If you are under 5 or over 65, or you have very bad health problems, then you are at more risk but you shouldn't worry.

Hannah Greenacre
yes its fine
unless you have an ilness of some type e.g. diabetes (find a docter soon)
then a bit of medicine (fone docters ask smeone 2 pick up) and you should be fine in a week or so.

From what I know, it's just another strain of the flu. In my opinion people are being ridiculous with how worried they are. Millions of people die every year from the regular flu and no one seems too worried about that. It's really nothing to stress over.

Yes, it is just like the normal flu but just a teeny bit worse because it is going round because it is new and has the word swine in front of it lol

All my family was born in Mexico. We have family in Mexico city, cancun, northern Mexico, and in the Gulf of Mexico. None of them knows anybody who has or had a case of swine flu.

Media is probably making it sound worse than it is. I just had the flu and it may even have been the swine flu since we were out of the country and it started then. It was annoying because it lasted me like 2 weeks, but nothing unbearable.

She is right. Same as regular flu. The regular flu kills 30,000 people every year. Hoped this helped

nobody really knows if it is.
personally i think it is because they don't diagnose properly so people think they've got it.

Absolutely no-one knows. There are millions of questions on the internet alone, it is being talked about all over the TV and in every newspaper and on health lines but to be honest that is not enough, lets face it, we are completely in the dark, and I for one think it's irresponsible for the government and media to not tell us anything and leave us guessing. I mean we only know all the sypmtoms off by heart, and can phone a doctor to be diagnosed but this is too hard, we need more info!!!

At the moment it's pretty much like normal seasonal flu, if the virus mutates that's when it's a problem, but there should be a vaccine available before such times.

Yes, what a hoax! 36,000 deaths from regular flu in the US per year. Not even 20 swine flu deaths in US in the past 12 months. Sure, one is too many, but come on. There are fewer CASES of swine flu than DEATHS from regular flu.

So I'd say your sister is right.

Yes and No.

If you get it, it's likely to feel like normal flu.

But, like normal flu, the most vunerable people can die of it.
Babies, the Elderly and people who have a low immune system.

i personally think its nothing to worry about. its pretty much the same thing as the regular flu, people die from that all the time. also, remember a few years ago with the whole bird flu thing? yeahh..nothing to worry about! i also know of a few people who have gotten the swine flu and theyre perfectly fine now!

The answers that show above as I write (there always seem to be additional ones as I add my response!) are all true[**except that it is NOT a hoax**]. So far, the H1N1 "swine flu" is no worse that seasonal flu, that causes about 200,000 people in the US to be hospitalized per year, and about 36,000 a year to die. As of July 3, there are 429 deaths worldwide...unfortunate for those people, but not the sign of the killer scourge that many feared. There will probably be a vaccine developed by fall; vulnerable populations should receive it (I'm planning on getting it, as well).

The worry is that this virus will mutate over time, and become worse; more lethal, affecting even more people, and overwhelming countries' capacity to deal with it. So, best idea is to do what you're doing: stay informed, and practice good habits to protect you from this or any other flu. This is especially true if you (or family members) are among the ones most vulnerable: those with chronic conditions like heart disease, asthma; diabetes; pregnant women.
