On the balance of probabilities your chance from dying form swine flu is low. Furthermore the risk of dying from swine flu appears to be less than regular season flu. This therefore means that the media attention especially on cases where someone dies has created allot of unnecessary fear and worry. |

Swine Flu has only been made a big deal because of the news media. Their ratings are based on getting peoples' attention, which means they make things sound worse than they are. Here are some simple facts: Less than 200 people have died worldwide from the Swine Flu this year. Over 30,000 people die every year in the United States alone from the regular flu.
Unless you live in a 3rd world country where quality health care is virtually nonexistent, you'll be fine. |

you'll be fine, it's really mild in most cases and you sound fit and healthy, plus you are taking anti-virals too.
It's important to remember that the term "pandemic" refers to how quickly the disease spreads, not it's severity. It is no worse than the normal flu that people get every year. It will make you feel crappy as all flus do... but you'll recover just fine. don't worry!
Get some rest, take a cold/flu remedy (if that is ok with tamiflu) and you'll be right as rain in no time :) |

The media have greatly exagerated the effects of swine flu. More people die from the yearly flu than have died from swine flu.
You will survive. Even better, you will never get the swine flu again! |

You are very unlikely to have ANY adverse effects from swine flu. It is currently causing death only in those who are already at risk due to pre-existing conditions. The death toll from this flu is no greater than from any regular flu season. The press has just made more of it because it came as a surprise to the medical community. |

I doubt you will Hon. I just came out of guarantee with it and no tamiflu. My GP is of the opinion if you don't really need it don't take it and lower your immune system.
I had chills to end all chills, diarrhoea, fever, no appetite and slept a lot. It has taken me this long ( 9 days) to feel even remotely like I can move again.
Take it easy and drink lots. Eat small amounts and you'll feel better soon. |

Slim to none. Actually the rate is the same as the normal flu. Drink lots of fluids. |

You will be fine. The ones who are going to face death are infants and those who are not able to reach treatment. |

im 15, and i got it too. its just like the normal flu, just it lasted longer and higher fever.
really, people shouldn't be scared of swine flu yet. its like the normal flu right now. its the possibility of mutating into a seriously deadly disease later that is scary. thats in the future though. you'll be fine :P |

The truthful answer is, your changes of dying are very, very small. Hardly anyone dies of swine flu, and those who do are usually the pregnant or those with some very serious underlying condition. Don't worry: you're fine. Take a look at the website I've listed below, and that should help ease your mind. Death rates right now are estimated at only around .1%-.5%, which means about 1 to 5 in every 1000 people who get it. But those are probably not accurate numbers (probably too high, because it seems many more people have gotten this flu than it is possible to know), and if you aren't pregnant or already sick you are even less likely to be one of those 5 or fewer. If you are not already ill, your young age is a good protection for you. |

You got swine flu? I'm sorry about that man, well, actually, nothing is too wrong. I would say the same if you got the normal seasonal flu. Don't worry, you'll only have that 5% chance of dying if you have alot of combined diseases like heart cancer, lung cancer, and other diseases. In fact, most people who have died when they have swine flu didn't even die because of it. Don't worry, you WON'T die!
Get well soon! |

The chances of dying are relatively low at around 0.5% but since so many get it, it appears to be a large number.
With around 500 dead out of 100,000 people mostly the infants and the seniors (80) die. Even then without a serious condition you will probably live
You won't die but remember not to leave the house even for food ask a guardian or parent to help.
Also be aware that as the swine flu gets old soon it shall be just like a cold |

You are not going to die. Have you gotten a normal flu before? Swine flu is the exact same but there is no vaccine (and vaccine or not if you have gotten a flu before it hasn't helped)
Just get bed rest and drink some OJ and you'll be better in no time
But to answer your question if you are healthy and have no serious conditions the honest chance that you will die is .0000001
get well soon |

the chances of dying of swine are relatively low, you are more likely to die of normal flu, luckily for you it was treated in it's early stages, i'm sure you will be fine.
look on the bright side now if there is a second and even worse wave of it you now have the antibodies to fight it off should you contract it again! :-) |

trust me on this.
the swine flu is nothing! it is just like the ordanary flu, there has been more deaths with the ordinary flu, there just trying to make something big out of it.
you wont die.
and the ones that die are usualy, aboriginals, babys, and the olders.
you will be okay:) |

the only reason why everyone has panicked about it is because initally it was discovered in mexico. when you look at it in perspective, their health system isn't as sophisticated and advanced as our own. Thus, there wasn't adequate health care towards those who did catch the flu and so which poor response and treatment, inevitably those people died.
on the other hand, in a country where routine checks on all airports and other high public areas are maintained and controlled, the risk of death is much lower. Also realise that our doctors and people part of the health system diagnose the flu very quickly and response is also speedy.
those who are at higher risk of death are those with health problems. as you have no serious conditions and thus healthy, your chances of survival are very high :) |

well it seems to affect older people and teenagers more.If your in a western country you should be fine, also Tamiflu is very effective. If your on Yahoo Answers you cant be that unwell and Im sure you will be fine.Give it 48 hours. |

Fallen_jedi

Almost none. It probably wouldn't even matter if you didn't take Tamiflu. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Most at risk are uber-young and elderly, those with already compromised immune systems or those that already in general bad health. |

your cahnces are about 35000:1, the same as the rate of deaths from regular flu as related to deaths from swine flu. |

Swine Flu is'nt that bad. it's just like the common flu. You have nothing to worry about. You know Ron Weasley from Harry Potter? He got swine flu in real life and he recovered. |

You're probably more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the docter than from swine flu... |

You have more chance of being struck by lightning.
In my experience the 2nd and 3rd day were the worst, but then the symptoms were lifting, but in saying that I was 3 days into it before I got Tamiflu.
Im sure you will be fine, nearly everyone who has died of it in the UK has had other conditions.
The Doctor who died had a blood clot on his lung and the 6 year old that died the same day had septiciema.
Just be sensible rest and stay in the house, drink plenty of water and eat before you take tamiflu it made me sick if I didn't
Hope you feel better soon |
