Why is my heart fluttering?
Sometimes, when I get up or sit down, my heart starts fluttering and my pulse races, even if I'm not doing any strenuous activities. When I walk after getting up, I get a weird sensation. I can't tell what the sensation is, so I yawn and it usually goes away.

Why is this happening and what's going on with me?

this is what you get before you have a heart attack! within the next week you could peg it! see ya dr and stop eating carbs straight away

depending on your age.. if under 60 i wouldnt worry. its most like heart palpitations. I got them alot whenever i have any form of caffeine. I spent hundreds of dollars at a cardiologist trying to find out why i get them.. and go figure it was just the caffeine. Try staying off caffeine.. and if you dont drink it anyways.. its still possible to get the flutters just because you are anxious or your body has not released enough energy.. On days where i have been lazy several days in a row my body will have built up energy and my heart will flutter.

You are either having an anxiety attack or you drank way too much caffeine.

It could be becaue you just stand up too fast after sitting or laying down for a period of time. Google "hypotension" and see if you have the symptoms.

only Jesus is the way
panic attack and anxiety.

WAT? No thats not what happens just before a heart attack how dim?

Sounds like benign palpitatations i've been getting them for almost 3 yrs stared when i was 26. After many expensive trips to the heart specialists i found out that they were normal and anxiety, stress, caffiene, hormones can trigger them.
Go your doctor tobe on the safe side but until then try to relax you'll be fine!

Yuppie Fabulous
I have no clue but it sounds serious. Perhaps you should consult a doctor instead of the people from the internets.

it really depends upon your age. are you under a lot of stress? it's time to see a doctor

What you are experiencing are probably heart palpitations. If you hold your breath and bear down does it go away? That would definitely point to palpitations. You may need to get an EKG to find out what is going on with your heart by your doctor. If it is not bothersome though you may not be treated.

Just the act of standing from sitting puts a strain on your body to increase heart rate and venous return to the heart because blood pools in your feet. Make sure you drink enough water because dehydration can produce a similar effect.

Heart palpitations can be caused by anxiety. So can lightneadedness....

If you are worrying about your heart you are just making the symptoms worse and worse....

I went through this a few years ago. In my case it was 100% anxiety. And its like a domino effect because anxiety is causing heart palpitations and lightheadedness. BUT, the heart palpitations and lightheadedness cause MORE anxiety.

Best advice: Calm down, take lots of deep breaths, and don't think about it.

They're called palputations . My mum gets them really badly because of stress and caffeine.
I get them occasionally beause of stress, and it can be caused by hormones at my age (16) .
My advice would be just go to the doctor and they will assess you based on your health record , take a blood sample and do an ECG (electrocardiogram) . All that means is they stick stickers all oer you , ask you to lie still and then this machine prints your heart pattern out .
If they arent 100% happy with that they might want to do a 24hr ECG ..the same but you carry a little box round round your waist .
Its nothing to worry about :D xx
