Pain in the heart when breathing in?
Starting from when I was around ten or so I'd get a random sharp stabbing pain in my heart when I breathe in and then I'd either have to take really shallow breathes for a few seconds or take one huge breath and feel a pop (accompanied by a final sharp stab) before the pain goes away. Back then these things would only happen about two times a year or so, but recently (now I'm 15) I've been getting these from once a week to once every other day. Although it usually goes away rather quickly, it's still rather terrifying to have to take miniscule breathes (I gave up on the huge breath--it hurts too much) every once in a while.

Does anyone know what condition this is and if there are any ways I can treat it? Thanks!

sometimes i get those, i don't know what they are either, but lots of people in my family have heart problems, but ever since i've been cutting back on eating fast food (no im not fat i just dont want my arteries full of crap) it hasn't happened in a while. Good Luck!

I have something of a similar problem, and you'll most likely find out its your lungs, not your heart, that hurt.

Every now and then, I end up getting those. Since you're a teenager (and so am I), it's probably growth. I asked my mom about this, and she says it may be that your rib cage is getting larger and stretching. When your ten years old, it could be the same thing. It shouldn't be your arteries starting to clog up. If your arteries were clogging you would be having pain every day. You're still very young for that to happen, so don't panic (I had that sort of worry). I don't know anything about a treatment on this, but yeah, that's what I think it is. You're just growing.

See a doctor. No, seriously, this is one of those things you don't get advice from online, you want something from someone who knows what they're talking about. Though, I think, not for sure, but probably your problem is not in your heart, but behind it, like where heartburn occurs. But yeah, see a doctor right away, even if it's only happening sometimes. It doesn't have to be going on for a doctor to help

This happens to me too. I think its just muscular pain on the muscles over your ribs, and its harmless. But, if it gets really bad (like prolonged burning or stabbing after the short breaths), go to the ER. i hope this helps and don't be worried!

The same happens to me too my parents say its just a cramp. You just have to sit up straight for a while and take small breathes. And then it will go away.

Just earlier this week I was sent to the ER because of painful chest pains I was getting all day. I usually get them like as much as you do too.
It was unbearable that day, though.
They did exams, X rays, and said everything looked fine.
What your probably encountering could be muscle tension, or it could be as far as a fatal heart disease.
I was diagnosed about a year ago with some disease with huge words on it, i dont even know how to pronounce, but its just something I have to put up with.

Just to be safe, you should see a doctor/cardiologist.
Chest pains could be anything, so get checked now to know why you're getting these! Good luck!
