no thats not true. All of my friends have lived 15/16 years. I know alot of people who have had open heart surgery(i go to camp for kids with heart disease) and all of them have lived past 10 years after their surgery. Your mom might have something else wrong, or her surgery might be a temporary fix and thats why she only has 3yrs to live.

honey, it all depends on the person's mindset and the shape that they keep themselves in.. if she wants to live the next 50 years, she can focus and do it, if she gets down and depressed about it, she may live 5... it's all up to her.

Snookie Baby!!!
That is not true! That is a lame doctor. To tell your mom something stupid like that? This doctor is stupid honey and should probably be reported.

Doctors are barely accurate with life expectancy after heart surgery. One of my friends was born with half a heart (hypoplasitc left heart syndrome I think).
He had surgery on his heart when he was born and doctors said that he would only live until the time he was 6 years old. He is now 20 years old and he is still alive. So it all depends on how your mother takes care of herself. If she does, then she will live far longer than the doctor has said, but if she doesn't then she may live a little less than what the doctor has said.

If it is, don't tell one of our Sr. Engineers. Joe had it done 18 years ago and he's doing fine. Maybe they shouldn't tell anyone and see what happens?
