Anxiety attacks can they be cured?
Can anxiety attacks be completely cured? For a month now Ive been told I am having anxiety attacks, I can handle the symptoms but obviously i want them to go away, the one symptom I cant handle is the shortness of breath, I feel like I cant breathe entirely.. I dont want to carry a brown bag with me the rest of my life to breathe into when this happens. Any suggestions on the breathing problem? and can anxiety attacks be cured??
Additional Details
your answers help alot.. I am on medication and the doctor gave me 20 mgs because my weight is low. I expereince anxiety when im not anxious, in the shower is the worst and when im just sitting, when i begin to get an attack my chest hurts it goes from cold to hot numerous times and i cant exhale entirely, when it occurs i just say "its all in my head", it helps it to pass faster but like i said i just want it out of life.

I have an anxiety disorder and have anxiety attacks frequently. What I do is take deep breaths and remember that it'll be over soon. It calms me down.

I believe if one addresses the problem of the anxiety, it can be cured. Anxiety itself it a natural reaction in our human lives. How it goes away depends on how we deal with the situation at hand. One might consider the following options: counseling, short-term meds, journaling, surrounding oneself in a positive environment - both mental and physical, support groups that involve people who might share the same struggles, changing one's diet (more fruits/vegies, less red meat), exercising, exercising, exercising, positive music.

When an one notices an attack coming on, one should let it go and try not to fight it. My experience and what my drs have told me (depending on the severity) is not to struggle fighting it. Try to acknowledge that it is coming on, walk out into open air and walk, and quickly find someone to talk with.

Does this help?

Cognitive therapy at this point while it's fairly early would help you...in finding the cause

Well, I havta say that it just depends on the individual. There are so many things that can cause anxiety. Are u experiencing a lot of stress in your life?? I had been diagnosed with anxiety attacks when I was 19. The Dr. put me on Leptopril (I think... can't really remember).. But anyways, I am human, I still get stressed out... But, I'm 28 now, and I don't let little things bring me down as much. I think its just that as u get older, you start to realize that "life will go on no matter what".. So, just try to hang in there the best u can. I know I have gotten alot better.

I have had anxiety attacks ever since I was 8 years old. I took so many medications and none of them really helped much. They made me jittery and sleepy. I started exercising 1 year ago and I have not had an attack since. I highly recommend exercise. It releases endorphins which calms the body and mind.

I used to have panic attacks ( or anxiety attacks) too. I'm not completely sure whether there is a cure, but I'll help as best as I can!
Sometimes, there's a reason why you have panic attacks. For me, I was taking that one allergy medicine Zyrtec, and It was causing me to have panic attacks.
But, you may have an anxiety disorder. My mother was very stressed and she started having anxiety attacks. Everyone's are different. So, I think you should eliminate anything that is unnesisary in your life. It should calm you down, and maybe they will go away on their own.
If they dont, then try and gain some control over them.
( Learn to control your breathing, make your heart slow down.)
Good luck!
