I have cut on my knuckle with a red line that is now extending from the wound to the middle of my arm.?
I woke up yesterday and it hurt just to bend the knuckle. The red line started later in the afternoon and remained just on the top of my hand. When I awoke this AM, the red line has now extended to the mid-forearm. The line itself is tender to the touch. Is this due to the infection, and/or, should I be concerned enough to go to the Dr.?

Well, I grew up always being told to watch out for the red line, and if it showed up I had to tell somebody immediately and get it taken care of. I always thought it was pretty serious - the ER sounds like good advice to me. Good luck!

Get to the E.R. ASAP!!! The red line is a sure sign of infection. It is imperative that you go RIGHT NOW to avoid permanent damage, i.e. amputation!!!

YOU NEED TO GO TO THE ER!!!!! The red line means that you have an infection in your blood!!!!!! NO JOKE!!!!! Get off the computer, call your dr. and if you can't get in......go to the ER!!!!

You are most likely in the beginning stages of blood poisoning, hence the red line, and you should seek professional medical care NOW, not tonight, tomorrow, or when you have the time. This can very well be a life threatening issue real soon.

generally lines lead to the heart which indicates you have a bacterial infection. At the very least they can clean it for you and cover the wound. Go see your MD.

Don't put it off - :)

Rae
Yes, go to the Dr. It sounds like it might be blood poisoning.
