You might research the mixture furthur to be certain of the solution % but I heard from many people recently after having the exact same scenario happen to me to use bleach and water. I used caladryl or calamine over-the-counter stuff for about 7-9 days. I was miserable.

I like Ivarest, available at Walmart. It's a hard tube to spot. It's meant for poison ivy. I just got a whole bunch of chigger bites, and tried Chiggar-rid (available at Walgreen's) but they still itched like crazy. Used Ivarest, and it stopped.

They dont like sulfur either, but thats more of a preventative. Your local pharmacy should have a solution, usually in a paste/gel form.

The best thing to do is go get a bottle of witch hazel from the pharmacy and take a long soaking bath it works I get them every summer.

To smuther the chiggers and stop the itching put vics vapor rub on areas affected. The petroleom suffocates them and the methanol relieves itching. You can also mix camphor and phenol in mineral spirits, works wonders.

Where are you located - northern states or southern? I live in Wisconsin so I am familiar with our state bird, the mosquito, but I did live in Florida for 3 years and when I mowed I use to disturb some fireant hills and ultimately get bitten around the ankles. What us to help there was spraying the bites with as hot of water that I could stand for as long as I could stand it. That seemed to stop the itching.

If you think you've been bitten by a chigger, wash the bite with soap and water. Put on some calamine lotion or cool compresses to help with the itching, of find an anti-itch cream or medicine. Try not to scratch the bites too much, because this can make the bites become infected.

The best way to avoid getting bitten by a chigger is to wear an insect repellent. Apply one that contains 10% to 30% DEET.

When it's possible, wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants outside, especially if you'll be hiking or playing in fields.

Once you come in from being in an outdoor area that may have chiggers, take a hot shower and use plenty of soap. Also, be sure to wash your clothes in hot water to kill any chiggers that might be living there.

You might also want to spray the entire area around your cabin for insects, something similar to when you spray for mosquitos.

Check this web site out - it has photos of what chigger bites look like. http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/md/chiggers.html
