How can i gain weight?
I don't think you'll ever see anyone ask this question but I am 15 and only 103 pounds. No matter how much I eat I never get above 103 or 104. What kinds of food should I eat to gain weight?

Claire C
I'm so very happy to see a sensible girl understanding she is underweight for a change.

I'd talk to your GP, they can no doubt point you in the correct direction in order to gain healthy weight without putting on too much.

Wishing you the best!

Fast Food, Fried Food, lots of Junk food and Sugar...
Though that is very unhealthy for your body.. I wouldnt suggest it..
I would suggest that you except yourself as you are because really you arent underweight for your age at all..
That is awesome that you arent like most girls your age thinking you got to be 90 pounds to look good.. sadly that is what the world has come to thanks to Models and TV Stars.. they are ruining the younger generation..
I will say though, you are normal for your age and as you get older you will grow into a different shape and size...
Enjoy who you are now!!
Merry Chrismas and stay healthy!!

I wouldn't be to worried about it. If you're only 15, you'll gain some weight. My sister didn't even break 100 until she was like 14. Don't worry, the weight will come, and then you'll wish you were only 103.

ok well try to eat fresh dates eat loads and loads of them every day with milk

its really nice aswell and you can get fresh dates from anywhere but most middle easter shops sell them

lots of fatty foods, and dun work out and make damn sure you never move your *** off of the couch

Protein shakes.

Or have a meal replacement shake (Slim Fast) along with your meals.

omg luckey i'm like 104 and i'm 13 wow ur luckey! go to a doctor but eat like fat and chocolote and icecream and staff like that u know? and don't stop excersicing people do that but it's just gonna heart u

It put the lotion on it's skin it rubs the lotion in

u dont need to gain weight...ur fine :]

Breads and fats can help increase weight. But it may not come in the right places. You dont want to get to 120 and 15 pounds of the gain are in your middle section. Ask your doctor, if you are healthy at your current weight it might be unhealthy to gain weight. You rbodys bone frame may not be able to support too much more. And you are totally not finished growing for another three or four years so dont be too anxious you might regret it later.

To gain weight an be healthy you need to consume more calories every day from healthy foods and choose the right types of exercise.

What To Eat To Gain Weight
Increasing your intake of junk foods and greasy foods is not a good way to gain weight. Junk foods usually contain unhealthy trans fats or saturated fats. Even though you need to increase your calorie consumption to gain weight, those calories should come from foods that are good for you.
Healthy fats include omega-3 essential fatty acids sources like tuna, salmon, flax, and walnuts. Good sources of protein include lean meats, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds and legumes. Healthy carbohydrate sources include fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

It may be easier to eat five or six smaller balanced meals per day rather than eating three large meals, especially if you are not used to eating much at one sitting.

Protein powders and nutritional supplement drinks such as Ensure (buy direct) can be added as in-between meal snacks if you still need more calories. Some protein powders are flavored and only need added water and some others can be blended with your choice of juice or milk to improve the taste.

It would also be a healthy idea to add a small amount of flax seed oil and some psyllium powder to add some omega-3 essential fatty acids and extra fiber.

Dietary Supplements and Gaining Weight
A high-quality multivitamin and mineral supplement is a good idea to make sure you are getting all of the vitamins and minerals you need. Some people find that their muscle mass increases with protein supplements that contain certain blends of amino acids such as creatine (buy direct) and glutamine (buy direct). Some people who are very ill may need liquid nutritional preparations that are available through their doctors.
Resistive Exercise To Gain Weight
Exercise is also important for healthy weight gain. Resistance training exercises such as lifting weights will help to increase your muscle size. Aerobic exercises such as running and stationary bicycling are better for fat loss and excessive aerobic training may cause you to lose more weight. Resistance training can be done at a health club, gym or at home with the proper equipment.
Remember that it can take a while to gain the weight you need, but be patient and continue to choose healthy foods until you reach your goal weight.

Tools to Help You Gain Weight
Use these tips and tools to help gain weight:
Start with this Calorie and Nutrition Guide to find out how many calories you will need to reach the weight you desire.
Use a food diary to track your calorie intake to be sure you are getting all of the calories and foods that you need.
You can also use an online program such as Calorie Count Plus to track your calorie intake, your exercise and your changes in weight. Calorie Count Plus has a large data base of nutrition information for almost any food you like to eat.
Add healthy calories to breakfast with an extra slice of whole-grain toast and peanut butter.
Mid-morning and afternoon snacks should be nutritious, not junk. Trail mixes contain healthy nuts, dried fruits and can add healthy calories to your diet.
Don't add calories to your meals by choosing unhealthy fried foods such as french fries, chicken nuggets and fish sticks. Choose healthy foods such as baked potatoes, baked chicken and fish, just make your portions a bit bigger.
Keep your meals balanced. One meal should have a healthy protein source such as fish, low fat meat, chicken or legumes plus two or three servings of vegetables. Green vegetables add lots of vitamins and phytonutrients while starchy potatoes and corn add extra calories.
Drink healthy beverages such as milk and fruit juices to add calories. Don't choose sugary sodas, which only add calories and no nutrition.
Design a weight training program with help from About.com's exercise site and our weight training site.

Eat fast food like McDonald's and the like. It's high in fat and calories. Eat a few cheeseburgers everyday and you gain weight for sure.

Be warned. That food is NOT healthy and it is addictive.

silly girl, you are making us jealous.

actually it's just easy to gain weight.

just eat a lot, i mean a lot of scrap metals, stainless steels, cast irons, rocks, stones, sand, etc, etc... then hit the scales.

wala, see your weight break the scale.

To gain weight, you can try a powdered weight gain shake that is high in calories and high in nutritional values. This way, you will be getting extra calories in a concentrated form and the valuable nutrients you miss with a poor appetite. Once your body is revitalized and you add some extra weight, you may be surprised to find your appetite increasing.

I am 16 and I am 100 pounds. I eat and eat, and I've always been thin.

eat and dont exercise!
loads of fat

You can gain weight by not eating for about 2 days then eat and eat and eat. The process behind this is that when you don't eat your matabilism slows down digesting food slower. Then when you eat your matamilism is still running slow so you gain weight. PLEASE BE WARNED I wanted to do this to and I am just starting to lose weight after 3 long years of eating right.

Try proteins. And things like protein drinks/shakes/bars might help as well. Be sure to count calories. You may not be taking in as much as you think. Add more calories, but not too much fat as even thin people can develop heart and other health troubles from eating too much fat.

eat junk food like french fries dont exersize stay inside be lazy i dont see why you want to way more that is a good weight for a 15 year old girl

That's a good thing. You have a high metabolism. Be happy. Some people would love to be in your shoes.

What can I do to gain weight?
The average person wanting to gain weight should try to eat foods with high calorie content and larger portions of food. Mild exercise can help to increase your appetite and help you add muscle rather than fat.

The following recommendations can be used by anyone wanting to gain or regain weight. It may be necessary, however, to change them to meet your specific needs. Check with your health care provider or dietitian about this.

To start, eat about 500 calories more a day than you have been eating. Some people will need to add up to a 1,000 extra calories.
Eat snacks throughout the day.
Choose higher calorie foods often.
Try to always eat larger-than-normal portions at meals. If you have a poor appetite, it may work better to eat smaller, very high calorie meals and to eat more often.
Fat contains more calories than any other food group: 45 calories in just 1 teaspoon. Adding healthy fats, such as plant oils (canola, olive, or peanut oil), soft margarines (look for those with no trans fats), old-fashioned peanut butter (the kind that needs stirring before you eat it), and avocado, is an easy way to add a lot of calories without having to eat a lot more food.
Avoid saturated fats. Foods high in saturated fat include: whole-milk dairy products, chicken skin, bacon, sausage, sour cream, butter, high-fat cuts of meat, and many processed snack foods.

Even though you are eating a high-calorie diet, you should try to keep it healthy by including a lot of unprocessed (unrefined) carbohydrates, such as whole grains and fruits, as well as vegetables and lean protein foods such as skim milk products, skinless poultry, fish, egg whites, beans, and low-fat cuts of pork and beef.
