doent sound like it at all dnt woory it isnt diabetes

lethargy, unusually frequent urination, unquenchable thrust and impaired blurry vision are classic symptoms.

I find it unusual you're not under observation in hospital whilst they await your test results as if you are diabetic and you're not making insulin then presumably you're in a state of hyperglycemia , making ketones - which is quite dangerous for a diabetic.

On the basis of the above (your Dr deeming hospital admittance unnecessary) the initial blood glucose test preformed by your gp / drs' surgery nurse must've yielded a result that wasn't within the vastly abnormal obviously diabetic range (anything over 11mml according to the world health organization is classified as unarguably diabetic) but maybe elevated significantly enough to indicate type 2 diabetes / Pre-Diabetes - thus warranting further investigation via other tests

Just drink plenty of water as that helps with blood glucose balance and energy levels and follow your drs / gps advice closely whilst you await your test results.

There are a number of possibilities and if the Doctor really thought it was, with symptoms like these then he could have got the results rushed through. I know its hard but try not to speculate. It may not be as bad as you think then you will have worried yourself sick unnecessarily.

Your results may well be in normal range. If there was anything wildly abnormal they would have contacted you immediately.

Some of your symptoms could be diabetes but some don't sound like diabetes.

Try not to worry. It will not help.

If it is diabetics, you have done the right thing to find out, the medication is second to none.

You will be looked after and feeling much better. My husband has it and is in great fettle.

Not necessarily, but its possible.
Also, you could have more than one condition simultaneously.

I'm not a doctor so would know-- I wouldn't trust any of our opinions on something as important as this - unless you know we are really a doc.
Now!! Try to relax, until you see your Doctor -- if it is Diabetes. they will give you any medication you need and advise you on any change in diet needed.

Mediation, can help you relax -- im one to talk i have been meaning to meditate for ages, but have been too busy -- Yea!

I am drunk, so meditation is out for tonight, cause last thing anyone should do is mediate drunk

meditation might help to not self harm -- Well it will calm you a little anyway -- putting your ideas down on paper in any form can help refocus the rage of self harm.

Good luck at the doctors

Personally, I dont think it would be diabetes. As GPs can do an on the spot blood glucose check

Results for diabetes should not take long.

You should have had a fasting blood test and these are often done over a few days. I had drug induce diabetes and was actually given little advice on diet except to cut out all sweets and to drink plain water. I found a web site that explained about counting carbohydrates and how to control diabetes through diet.

I would now ask to see the diabetes nurse at the hospital rather than rely on the practice nurses in my GPs.

Diabetes is easier to control nowadays and diet is the main factor.

Speaking as a diabetic, you have the the 2 main symptoms - peeing a lot and excessive thirst, tiredness is a symptom of Type 2 diabetes along with the above mentioned symptoms. Have you had a fasting blood glucose test done at your GP's. If not you need to. If that proves positive they might do an HbA1c test which detects what your blood glucose level has been over the past 3 months, finally if all of the above are positive you'll go to the hospital for a glucose tollerance test, that will give you definitive results. Until you get all your blood work through dont worry about it.

I know its hard but you should just wait and see what your results say. Its only going to scare you more with what people say on here!

willow
It sounds like you have enough problems without adding
"worry" to your life.

Frequent urination, thirst and tiredness are some of the signs of diabetes.

a couple of weeks ago i had to have a diabeties test as well because i was prone to infection for a week while i was waiting for the blood test i was terrified. i would go to lloyds chemist and ask for a free diabeties test, you find out instantly. i wish i did i would have saved myselkf alot of worry while i was waiting for the results.

i was only anemic by the way... all the best.

Try not to worry about it until you get the official results.

If you do have diabetes, it's not a death sentence, it just means you have to be more aware of what you eat, increase activity level and take meds as needed.

That's the same as if you don't have diabetes.
Watch what you eat
Exercise
take meds when needed.

Nothing to be afraid of, okay.

Babygirl, I know it's hard sweetie, but wait for the doc' s test results to come through, it'll come soon enough. Is there any way that you could phone up the docs and ask them to give you a urine test - it may give you a idea to put your mind at ease, especially as you used to self-harm - please don't do that again baby, try to stay calm.
