Diabetes isn't a disease. It's just a result. The result of a poor diet and lack of exercise. Read Kevin Trudeaus book... Natural Cures "they don't want you to know about" |

There is no cure, it is a manageable disease.
The discovery of insulin has allowed diabetic to lead a normal life, but it is no cure. |

I'm not sure, but I think we had less metabolic problems when we ate off the land.. |

First, insulin is not a cure, it is a treatment. There is no cure. Second, if diet didn't work, they died. |

Yoy dont cure diabetes, you treat it. Diet is all they had and you either stayed on a strict diabet diet or you eventually died from it. |

Well as you know insulin is NOT a cure for diabetes, it just keeps the person alive
As far as I know they just died.. but don't hold me to that one |

There is no cure.
Insulin is a treatment. For adult onset diabetes another treatment is diet and exercise, but that requires hard work and will power, unlike pills or shots... so less people do it.
My father was diagnosed with adult onset diabetes and started working out like crazy and eating really well and 1) the diabetes is totally under control with no need for drugs and 2) he's in the best physical and mental shape in his life! He's kept the lifestyle up and the diabetes at bay for 7 years now! |

There was never a cure for diabetes, but people with diabetes probably ended up dying of infection or bloodletting. |

Often times people did simply die, or lived very restricted lives. People often died within a few weeks of diagnosis, or lived on what was virtually a starvation diet to force their livers to use fat rather than sugar. A good timeline of the history of diabetes treatment is found at the link below.
Diabetes today can be treated with insulin; however, there is still no cure, although there are some promising therapies on the horizon. |

They still do not cure it, and before insulin the diabetics died. |

They often went into a Coma and died. Early on they didn't even know why. It's pretty much that simple... It caused a lot of blindness also... |

There is no cure for diabetes. Prior to insulin, yes, they just died. |

There still is no a cure for diabetes. Insulin helps you manage an incurable condition. You can't have a pancreas transplant.
Before insulin people died. Sad isn't it but amazing how far we have come in a relatively short time. |

There was no cure back then and no cure now. Insulin just helps to prevent it and the person who has it is going to lead a life of sorrowness by not being able to eat certain things, be restricted, having to inject themselves and stuff like that.
They used to just try to have you live as long as possible. The point of medicine is to either a)cure b) keep alive.
So, you've actually given the answer to your own question. People did just die, except they died much horribly than they do now. They had parts of their body amputated and some do now, but its mostly in countries that cannot afford insulin.
Diabetes is similar to cancer or AIDs, they don't have cures, but they have medicines to prevent or prolong your life for good or bad.
"The purpose of insulin itself is to control blood glucose levels when other medications become insufficent." -Wikipedia |
