I have had brace for about three years now and feel your pain.I found it difficult to eat things such as toast, but now can eat everything I ate before.Try to eat soft foods like mash, beans, rics, pasta ect stuff you do not have to chew much.I can promise you within 2-3 weeks you will be eating like normal

Try warm porridge/congee. It helps a lot.

rawr.
use ACT mouthwash

then for the first day or 2 ur teeth may be a little sensitive so stick with eating soup, pasta, pudding, jello, beans, yogurt, custard, fries, milkshakes, ice cream, and soft foods-avoid straws

every night use Peroxyl mouthwash for like a week to keep ur gums storng from cuts and use dental wax and rubber coverups so u wont get blisters, they hurt a little but arent that bad. avoid sleeping on ur side, try to keep ur head straight up for a couple of days

every morning and every night use the Peroxyl mouthwash again for 2 weeks then after that just use ACT mouthwash to keep ur teeth and gum s healthy. get some Super floss, made for braces-i sugest elictrical toothbrushes they keep ur mouth cleaner

dont worry-trust me- i have had my braces on for almost 4 years, i just got em off about two months ago-i luv my new smile!!!

how about some warm soup, yogurt, banana,
cottage cheese? soft foods, a little at a time.
Hope you feel better,

Mannnnniiiiii;
yeah i know how that is. anything ANYTHING you can break up with your tongue. I only ate yogurts, apple sauce, and pudding. Or anything you can swallow.
Like spaghetti-o's

if thats easy to swallow for you.

Congrats on the tin grin, you'll be glad later. Meanwhile, as first noted here, do the soup, any soup. It can be super nutritious even without solid matter in it. Also, the liquid diet stuff is good for us any time, not just when we're on a diet....Wal-Mart has a bunch of them. One more thing, avoid the pain killers unless you REALLY need them.

mashed potato

Yogurt, soup or any other liquids! When I first got my braces I could not chew ANYTHING!!! Not even soft things... I only had to eat things that I could swallow. Pop a motrin, drink some tea, get a blanket, and watch tv or go to sleep. Thats what i did to stop thinking about the pain because, obviosly, when you sleep you wont feel anything. Good luck hun and dont worry... every1 w/ braces went through the pain 2. :)

Make sure to use your dental wax especially toward the back if you are going to be eating. I just got mine on Wednesday, and I ate regularly. Of course there is the normal things such as pudding, jello, applesauce, mashed potatoes, soup, rice, etc. If you have to have solid foods go with something soft like turkey breast on hawaiian rolls, whole wheat soft tortillas, things of that nature. Just whatever you do, please make sure to clean your teeth out everytime you eat if you can. If you don't have the opportunity just make sure they are clean and swish some water around, which will eliminate a lot of the food debris. Braces are great, but wouldn't be appealing with a food buffet on them. Stick to softer foods, if you go for pizza or anything of that nature, just cut it up into bite-sized pieces and use a fork, and chew with your back teeth.

p.s. It sure cuts down on snacking doesn' t it?
