is it dangerous to sleep with retainers on teeth?
cuz i just wear at home but sleep with them

yes its dangerous u idiot. that's like asking if i can leave the water running while i run down to the store.

No, theyre made to fit your teeth, so they wont fall off.

If theyre loose on you, go to your dentist and theyll tighten them.

If the ortho doc said wear them for so many hours, and if that includes bedtime, then do it. They are not going to slip out of your mouth - it takes some effort to get it out (had braces years ago).

You are lucky that you are to retainers...that is the easy part of it now that the braces are off. Congrats!

no not at all. when they give them to you they tell you that if it starts not to fit then you should go in and see them because it is possible to swallow it if it dosent fit. If it fits perfectly fine then you should be ok.

Think outside the box.
No, I wear mine to bed every night (errr.. that was a lie) I'm supposed to, anyway. besides, the retainer is secure on your teeth, I can't think of a way for it to become loose... But yeah, you're supposed to wear them while you sleep at night soo... they're safe.

NO! My orthodontist told me to wear them ONLY at night. So, no. It all depends what kind of condition your teeth are in. But it's not dangerous at all, as to chocking or something.

I sleep with my retainers in every night, and Its fine. Just make sure they fit perfectly.

Madeline T
No not at all, you're supposed to :)
Ask your orthodontist or dentist when you should be wearing it at your next appointment if you're not sure.

Little Kandi Raver!
no! my dad used to wear his only at night!
just make sure it's secure on your teeth

My wife said after she had braces and got retainers the orthodontist told her to wear them when she slept.

No, you should wear your retainers full time at first, then night time only when the orthodontist gives you permission. As you grow older, you should wear them at least one night per week to make sure they are not moving....yes until you are as old as I am...and that's ancient.

sam e
I guess, ask dr

NO....they shouldd be tight enough so that they dont fall off. ive had retainers for a total of 3 years. it's fine.

No, I wear them at night and only at night.

no i think ur suppose to

well arent they supposed to be worn at all times?
Cause teeth move most when your sleeping.
so i think its okay;)

Vivian C
No. I think you are supposed to. According to my dentist I am supposed to keep them on at all times except when eating.
