say you've just been diagnosed with a terminal illnes, what would you do?
ok, say one day you don't feel so good, you black out, and when you wake up you're in a hospital and everyone is looking really serious. then a doctor tells you that xou have a teminal illness but is unable/unwilling to tell you how much longer you have.
How would you react? What would you do?
ok, losing your mind is a valid answer, but what do you do after that?

I would ask for the Sacrament of the Sick, make sure my guy knows where all the bills, check book is along with the animal food and give everyone hugs goodbye. I know I will see them again one day so it will just be hard on the family for a few years. Hopefully my guy would remarry and get that boat he always wanted :)

I looked at the neurosurgeon and asked if this was the part of his work he hated most. His answer was yes. I explained that I was aware he could only give textbook prognosis, but my book says different. You then live for today. Never take anything for granted. Love like you have no tomorrow. Wake up every day thanking God for one more day alive. Kiss your kids, wife, husband, or whoever, goodnight and tell them you love them, as though it is the last opportunity you will ever have to do so.

You ask what possibly therapies exist to help treat or manage the disease if possible, to extend whatever time you do have. If not, find out what symptoms you can expect to have to deal with and what medication you might be able to take to lessen their pain or impact. Then you see a specialist, and ask the same questions.

I have been living with Kidney Cancer in June of 2000. Actually, I had it earlier than that, but I wasn't diagnosed until June 2000. It was upgraded to metastatic disease in Oct 2001, and I have been fighting the disease since.

Tell my little family how much I loved them. I would do a DVD recording for the kids telling them how much I love them and how proud I am of them...(I tell them everyday but I want them to have that for life).

I would hope for enough time to put everything in order, and keep living my life... with the focus as it has been - on the kids and my hubby.

After the birth of my son - the placenta wanted to stay inside...I lost so much blood my heart stopped in surgery... I was given a second chance to make sure that my life was focussed on my priorities... I haven't ever forgotten that. first and foremost my kids and hubby - all equally mean soooo much to me...

I know it's farewell... not goodbye... it would hurt like blazes and I would hate to know it would have to come, but I would find a way to keep an eye on them... don't worry about that... it's real

Cash in my life insurance, see all my friends and family, visit places I'd like to see, and do things I like to do. I'd do everything I could do to enjoy my limited days. No use moping and feeling sorry for myself, it would only make those around me feel more pain.

First off, my husband and I have been through this. He was diagnosed with an untreatable cancer. Even went in for surgery and closed him up saying that he couldnt do anything. However, I dont know your illness. I wouldnt let him give up. Tell your family, find a strong person that cares deeply for you and work with this person and find another DR as we did. We drove halfway across the country and found 2 Dr's that said they would give it their best try and they got us through it. He is cancer free, and it was well worth the driving and also the persistance we had. Good Luck!
Im alo an email away if you want to talk/vent.whatever!

You fight until you can't fight it any more and don't take nothing for Grant. Take time to smell the roses per say don't shut your family out especially children/grandchildren make sure they know whats going on because they may act like they are okay with it however it hit close to home for me I took care of my mother in law along with hospic ( which by the way is wonderful) and yes it was very time consuming however I wouldn't had it any other way. Our daughter took it very hard with everything so best thing I could tell someone is to never forget the people who love you the most I won't lie it is hard but don't forget to tell them you love them and it is okay for you to be very scared hope I helped may not of been the best answer however I thought it was the best answer I had and could give to you DON'T GIVE UP TO THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
