my boyfriend lied about having cancer?
ok i had dated him for 3 months. it was december wen we started dating and during the beginning of the relationship he told me he had throat cancer and he was going for chemo. he was back at school the next day claiming he had gone. its now july and he still has a full head of hair. he never got a catheter theres not a mark on him. the school counselor also assured me that he did not have cancer and he was not going to die. my theory is that beacause his grandfather had had that exact same type of cancer that he got the infornmation from that. he tells EVERYONE that he has cancer. idk y. i think he wants the pitty. hes still trying to convince me that he has cancer. ive given him all my proof. still dont believe him. wat do u think?

☮☮I luv you☮☮
I think he wants attention.
Or maybe he has cancer, but is not getting chemo, but another form of treatment.
But the counselor said no, so I think you should break up with him, or "take time off" until you find out for sure. Because that sure is one big huge lie....

thats weird, cancer is a serious thing and its very wrong to lie about having it. dump him...

hes lying to you... dump him.

If you know he's lying you should confront him and let him know he is not telling the truth. You should then let him know that lying about having cancer is not something to toy with. What if he really got cancer, but then no one believed him?

look him in the eye, tell him again and say it seriously.
if he doesn't wanna believe you..that's his problem.
Cancer is not a fabulous thing to have, i don't know why people joke about it! :S

He is indeed lying. The preceding answer about throat cancer is correct; no saliva. He'd have trouble kissing, and swallowing, speaking, eating, and he'd complain about sore throats daily.

Ask him to open his mouth and say "Ahhh"
This is throat cancer;
This is a healthy throat;

A bit of redness is not a sign of cancer. Unless it looks absolutely appalling (which it would after three months), don't trust it. Also, the chemo would make him vomit, or at least nauseous, despite the strength. He would also get sick easily, and I believe bruise easily.

You need to tell his parents what he is doing, and the guidance counselors at school-he obviously needs help. How old is he, anyway? 12?

If you believe he is lying about cancer, why are you still with him.

If you are not with him, it is none of your business.

Depending on how bad the cancer is, chemo can be stronger or weaker. Resulting in more or less hair loss. But, no, it doesnt sound like he does. My mom has stage IV breast cancer. She started out with weak and didnt loose too much hair. Now, shes on this REALLY strong stuff and shes bald and wears a scarf on her head. I think is pathedic and sad he is lying about it. Confront him. Say you want proof now or its over. Really.

He could be telling the truth.Chemo doesn't always result in hair loss.it is possible to have chemo and go to school the next day.I had a coworker that was getting chemo and she kept working. You don't get a catheter for chemo but you would get an IV started.If it was a good start there may be no mark.

Though not all chemo patients loose their hair, I do not think he would be back at school the next day after receiving chemo. And if the guidance counselor assured you that he did not have cancer, I would assume he doesn't. I think that he might be a pathological liar, and I would run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. In other words break up with him before he starts telling lies about you. Click on the link to learn about before and after chemo treatment precautions. This might help you in making your decision.

My best friends husband is recovering from throat cancer..IF he had it he would be on liquid diet for at least 3 to 5 months as they have no saliva and they will choke on food..It;s so bad they have to carry water bottle at all times.He also lost 60 lbs..No your friend does not have cancer..dump him he is a loser and u need to tell everyone you know what he is doing..that's just sick,

Well he didn’t do a very good job getting his information. It isn’t the full head of hair or lack of a catheter that tells you he is lying, it is the fact that he is young enough to be in school. Less than 0.5% of throat cancers occur in people under 35 years old. Zero occur in people under 20. Even if it were possible only advanced cases are treated with chemo and he would have had surgery - all are treated with radiation. If he could lie about this and want to continue after he is confronted means there is something very wrong with him and he will lie about anything. Tell him you are going to talk to his mom about it and see what happens.
