Dont have insurance, may have cancer!!?
Dont have health insurance as I cant afford it, live paycheck to paycheck...BUT make to much to get accchs or any assistance!? Had an accident few months ago and had x-rays in hospital of chest to see if broke ribs (still have those bills to pay!) They accidently found a mass in lungs that they say needs ct scan ASAP to see if cancer but have no money no insurance and no assistance...what does one do in this situation?! Have no idea what to do but maybe die!

First thing I am so sorry you are going through this , the word cancer is not easy to take if is you ...ok I dont how much you make, but you may be eligible for a variety of governmental programs , such as Medicaid maybe this site will help http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MedicaidGenInfo/ and I think they will go back 90 days ...Also go you your local Hosp and ask to speak to their social worker they will know of grants and studies to help you and some hosp have grants like "fill the gap" that will pay for scans blood tests and so forth .Also I would contact http://www.cancer.org/docroot/subsite/accesstocare/index.asp
I dont know but maybe the nurse of the doctor that told you this maybe able to point you in the right direction as far as if there any place's that do this test pro bono ...If you do have cancer the treatment center should have some studies that you can get on to ease the costs of chemo and so forth . But I would be very honest with everyone involved ( docs , nurses, hosp. social workers ).The long you wait the harder the treatment will be ( trust me I know ) .So first thing in the morning get on the phone and phone welfare dept or social services they will know some directions also you are your own fighter no one else will care for you as much as you ....god bless

Contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 and inform them of your situation. The ACS maintains a comprehensive database of federal, state, and charitable programs which may be applicable to you. They are very experienced in dealing with your type of situation and will offer whatever advise they can.

It sound like you already contacted the Arizona state insurance program, but have you talked with the Arizona Department of Health as well? The DoH may be able to offer some assistance.

Your hospital's Billing Department may have a financial counseling service. Approximately 100 million Americans are either uninsured or under-insured, so they see cases like yours all of the time. See what suggestions they can offer.

Delaying treatment is quite dangerous. If you must go into debt to save your life, then that's the way it is going to be. You can worry about the money problems later, just get treatment now.
