LeoDaFreek
dude it could be puberty. my cousin is 14 and he trusts me enough to tell me that his nipples are swelling up too and really what would you rather believe? that you,a 13 year old boy with breast cancer or that it's puberty?

samurijack22
Yea that might be breast cancer. You should see your doctor.

xackto

You should get it looked at by a doctor very soon.

However, between now and the doctor appointment, don't worry excessively about it. Is it possible that you have breast cancer? Yes. Is it likely? No. Although men can get breast cancer, it's not very common. Women are 100 times more likely to get breast cancer then men. So especially in males your age, it's unlikely. A far more common cause of breast swelling in males your age is a hormone imbalance that causes abnormally large development of breast tissue.

Are both your breasts swelling? Or just one?

Like I said, definitely get it looked at soon. But don't worry yourself to death over it. Is it possible you have breast cancer? Yes. Is it likely? No.

i'm pretty sure its possible for guys to get it ... go to the doctor

While this would be unlikely to be cancer, why take the risk?
See a Dr and get it checked asap.

First of all calm down, and tell your parents. They need to take you to a doctor. Even if it really is a lump that does not mean it's cancer it could be noncancerous. By you noticing it early is also a very good plus. I'm sure u will be okay

I know it may seem strange to you, but the tissue that gets infected with cancerous cells is found in men AND women. While women have much more, it is far more common for them to suffer from the disease, but about 1% of all breast cancer cases are in men. Hopefully it's nothing, but you really don't want to play around with something like that. Talk to your parents, a close teacher or any adult that you trust about seeing a doctor.

It's possible, definitely go get checked out by a physician. If your start to lactate or have discharge, then that's a pretty big sign. But put your mind to rest and see a physician.

Definitely DEFINITELY go see a doctor as soon as possible. If you have not talked about it with your parents yet I would strongly advise it. It is possible for boys to get Breast Cancer (rare but possible) but I am not sure if a boy your age would be able to obtain it. Just the doctors deal with it.

Good luck!

SweetCheeks16
You should go to the doctor either way but if it hurts it might be something serious and if it doesn't it could just be a sist.

To the first girl who answered, are you serious?! You're an idiot get educated!!

It could be an infection, clogged lymph node, or a cyst that is growing. It very rare that teen males get breast cancer but it does happen so you'd be wise to get it checked out so you don't have to worry about it.

Smoke Monster
Yes males can have breast cancer. You should definitely have it checked out next time you go to the doc, if not sooner, if you're due for a physical. It might seem embarrassing to bring up... but, better safe than sorry.

better play it safe and get to a doctor... tell mom, or....

it IS possible for men (boys) to have breast cancer. it probably isn't anything to worry about but...!

good luck with it, and DO NOT be embarrasses!!!

Gabababy
go to the doctor

like my "cow lick"?
yeh, there's a chance, not as much as females but males are mammals also.. and have mamalian but theirs don't function, especially at 13.

it may not be cancer.. it could be a corpusal gone crazy.

but, as usual.. see the doctor... no joke! this lump may be a prelude to cancer somewhere's else in the body.

so, i strongly suggest the doctor recommendation.

TRUST ME!

*Andria*
I would definitely go see a doctor. That sounds serious. Both women and men can get breast cancer... it's just more rare for men to get it. I would definitely go see a doctor though and make sure it's nothing major. It might not be serious now, but if you wait, it can possibly get more serious and even life threatening. I'm not trying to scare you or anything... I just want you to know how important it is for you to go to a doctor about something like that. Don't be embarrassed about it.

And yes, "food" (to the 1st comment).. guys can get breast cancer.... and I don't really think it's that funny.

Angel with a broken wing
Kevin, I to had a lump under my arm pit it turned out to be an allergic reaction. The point I am trying to make is I was afraid yet went to see a doctor right away. I hope you have. I lost my best friend at a young age to cancer. Get help now and be positive. We know that laughter helps heal the body, it produces positive ions so keep laughing. Kevin laugh your way to live don't let this stop you from being a 13 year old boy. Find away to smile everyday and laugh even if its at yourself.

The chances of a 13 year old male getting breast cancer are as close to zero as makes no difference.

Men do get breast cancer, but fewer than 1% of those diagnosed with breast cancer are male.

And 80% of all people diagnosed with cancer are over 50; most men diagnosed with it are over 60.

It's rare in women under 40, and almost unheard of in under 25s.

So you can see how huge the odds against a 13 year old male getting breast cancer are.

Most breast lumps in men are actually a condition called gynaecomastia, a button-like growth under the nipple and areola area that can be felt and is sometimes visible to the naked eye and occasionally it can be quite tender.

This increase in the amount of breast tissue is not a tumour and occurs due to changes in hormone balances at times like adolescence your age, in other words.

It's not unusual and it's temporary. See your doctor for reassurance
