It's not an allergy to the water, but to the chemicals. Chemicals are different in heat. They're probably not fibbing, but just don't know it's not the water....

There was one girl on the news that was alergic to any water...it was really sad, but i kno that i get ichy after a really hot shower and when im under a heated blanket...i dont think there alergic, maybe there just ichy.

Generally highly hot water can cause some irritation and redness of skin, but lukewarm water (less than 50 degree celsius) will not cause any harm, as human skin is generally accustomed to that. But hot water from springs contain high amount of sulfur in it, which is likely to cause skin rashes and allergy to a majority of people. Sometimes chlorine present in water can also cause allergy. In case of such allergy, have a pheniramine maleate or cetrizine tablet, and you will feel better soon.

I have a condition called skin writing and I will have a reaction to extreme heat or cold, having something abrasive scratch my skin and ect ect. Some people have much more severe reactions than I do. I went to an allergist and found out I had it.

no. your vessels dilate when in hot water increasing the volume of blood going through it, this is why they get a flushed color of skin.

-----------------
more than half of your body is made of water, your skin has water everything does.

it is essential to have for survival, If one were to be allergic they would be dead a long time ago

Hot water is actually extremely drying to the skin - especially if the person doesn't moisturize heavily right after the shower while the skin is still damp. Extremely hot showers aren't necessary and cause this problem for LOTS of people.

*Freezerspider - you have dermatographia? I've only seen it a couple of times when I worked in a derm office. I know it's not "cool" for you, but it was interesting to me to see people with that condition!

char__c is a good cooker
No they aren't necessarily lying, they probably have extra sensitive skin. Water has stuff added like chlorine and other stuff I don't know the name of, plus this time of year with the weather change, every one is prone to chafing. Chapped lips, wind burn etc. It is possible to irritate skin more easily. Sometimes they put extra treatments in the water system and that could make it worse also.
