can anyone suggest a good allergy medicine for me?
so i have AWFUL seasonal allergies and its spring and there is a TON of pollen where i live (tennessee) . like, you could drop a ball on the ground and it'll make a yellow poof.
annyywaaaayysss..... my worse symptoms are watery eyes and stuffy nose. i've taken care of the nose problem sorta, i've started using nasonex. but i really need something that helps watery eyes. clariten didn't help at all and neither did benedril.
i have some alevert in our medicine cabinet so i could try that.

any other suggestions? cause i'm tired of people at my school thinking i'm crying when i have watery eyes.

oh btw, plz suggest things that WON'T make me drowsy so i can take it b4 school. thanx =]

zyrtec makes you drowsy.. but it works very well. try claritin if you really dont want drowsiness. maybe try zyrtec [get a sample] and use it over the weekend and see how drowsy it really makes you feel. there is also singular which treats a different cause of allergies which may be right for you. i belive its non drowsy. claritin is non drowsy btw

ZYTEC. Take 1 every morning with your breakfast, it's non drowsy & fights the allergies very quickly. Just take 1 every 24hrs, even if you have no symptoms. They're also good if you get a lot of bites.
I sympathise with you, my ex had hayfever & my husband is allergic to numerous things, so he just takes one every morning & he's ok. When he forgets tho...arrrgh! Puffy, runny eyes, sniffles, headache & it's just awful! Poor love.

I am the same way! The only thing that is helping me is drixoral cold & allergy. It can be hard to find, but sams club has it the cheapest. You always have to get it from behind the counter. The best thing about it is you only have to take it every 12 hours.... so it will last all night! I live in GA so we are sort of the same :)

Zyrtec, you can buy it wihtout a prescription (btw, the pollen that creates allergies are microscopic and you wouldn't be able to see them)

start with over the counter claritan or otc Zyrtec.
be careful though cause Zyrtec can cause drowsiness.
nasonex also works very very well, but you need a prescription and the co pays can be pricey.

There are prescription eye drops that do a really good job on the watery eyes and won't make you drowsy. See a doc if you can.

BECONASE its really good clears up all seasonal symptons

LOCAL honey will CURE your seasonal allergies within a month or so of taking a teaspoon a day. You won't get them next year as your body works with the local honey to develop immunities to all the air born irritants around you like pollen, pet dander, smog, mold, mildew and dust. Stay away from decongestants and antihistamines like ZYRTEC and CLARITIN-these dry out your body and can cause complications in the sinuses and/or kidneys with usage over time. Local honey has no side effects-won't make you drowsy or dehydrated, is 100% natural and easy to come by without a prescription (no doctor visit $$$). Please give local honey a chance-you only get one body so take good care of it.

My son tried Alavert which is OTC. It melts under your tongue. He said it was the best allergy medicine he had ever used. But there are also prescription meds. Check with your doctor or even your pharmacist.

Andrea
ok... as far as rx meds, you could go with zyrtec or allegra. they both, as antihistamines, have the potential to make you drowsy. that said, you don't have to take them in the morning. with those meds, i often suggest them ebing taken at bedtime. as long as you take them around the same time every day they will do their job.
There are alos eye drops you could use for allergy symptoms that present in your eyes. my preference is opcon-a.
Good luck!!
