I've had it done twice. They stick you with some little sticks with all kind of liquids like carrot, tomatoes, dust, grass, on them and then you wait to see if your arm will get any welts on it. If it gets a large welt then they know you can't eat that or come in contact with it. I can't eat seafood in large amounts and I sneeze when I get around dust and grass. It doesn't hurt at all it just Itch a lot.

Yes, they will put different allergens on your arm to see what allergies you are allergic to. It doesn't hurt, but it's very uncomfortable and u can itch, but they have antihistamine to control it and they will see if u puff up as well and this determines which allergen u are allergic too. I had mine done on the sides of my arms.

I had it done and I am really scared of needles but this was not bad at all. All the doctor did was scrape the skin and mark with a marker the area and then a dropper full of the allergen is applied to the skin. Not bad at all!

When I went for allergy tests, the doctor first asked some questions to find out if there were specific things I thought I was having a reaction to, then gave me a blue shirt that ties in the back and left so I could take off my shirt and put that on.

Next, the doctor came back and with a pen that felt very cold but was probably just a regular pen, wrote all over my back. I couldn't see what he was doing, but he was just putting codes for each of the allergens he was about to test so he would know which ones I was reacting to.

Once I was all labelled, the doctor put a drop of cold liquid on each spot and then scratched it lightly with something sharp like a pin (there is probably a technical term for what he was doing, I'm just describing how it felt while I was face-down on the table).

The whole experience took about 45 minutes, maybe a bit longer. Nothing was painful; just a bit cold and scratchy. The doctor could see right away what I was allergic to and was able to provide a list of things I should avoid. If you are allergic to something like peanuts, bee stings, etc. the doctor will likely write you a prescription for the appropriate treatment in case you are exposed.
